The Muppet Christmas Carol has remained a holiday touchstone since its 1992 debut. It seamlessly blends Jim Henson’s puppetry with Charles Dickens’ timeless story.
Every year, the film finds a new generation of audiences, from Disney+ viewers to theatergoers attending live orchestra performances throughout the U.K.
Fans in London can also enjoy sing-along screenings at the Prince Charles Cinema. The film's enduring appeal has inspired a new generation of musicians to reinterpret its music, bridging classic holiday nostalgia with contemporary sounds.

The latest reinterpretation comes from Chicago pop-punk band Fall Out Boy, who have released a cover of the film’s song “It Feels Like Christmas” for the Spotify Singles Holiday series.
The group has taken the original song and added guitars, drums, and their signature high-energy style, producing a version that retains the song’s festive spirit while injecting a modern rock edge. Fall Out Boy posted a behind-the-scenes clip on Instagram, captioning it: “Muppet Christmas Carol is possibly the greatest adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic story. We always loved the music and we had a blast getting to put our stamp on a version of it.”

This cover continues a trend of artists putting new spins on holiday classics. Recent examples include Poppy’s grunge-inspired take on Wham!’s “Last Christmas” and The Pretty Reckless’ rock rendition of “Where Are You Christmas?”—a track originally performed by Taylor Momsen as Cindy Lou Who in the 2000 film The Grinch.
Fall Out Boy’s version demonstrates that holiday music can evolve across genres while preserving the charm that made it memorable in the first place. The band also has experience reimagining iconic songs for film. In 2016, they contributed to the Ghostbusters reboot soundtrack, reinterpreting Ray Parker Jr.’s theme alongside rapper Missy Elliott. Their work on “It Feels Like Christmas” builds on that legacy, showing how classic holiday tunes can find new life in contemporary pop and rock interpretations.
For fans of The Muppet Christmas Carol, this release is a reminder of the film’s ongoing cultural relevance. Whether through streaming, theatrical experiences, or modern musical covers, the story and its music continue to connect with audiences, proving that the Muppets’ take on Dickens’ classic is as timeless as ever.
