Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Could Feature Scenes From ‘Muppet Christmas Carol’ Next Winter

It’s been more than three decades since The Muppet Christmas Carol debuted, yet the beloved 1992 classic remains as essential to the holidays as tinsel and turkey. From annual family rewatches to its newly restored Disney+ version featuring “When Love Is Gone,” the film continues to charm generation after generation.

That enduring affection has even spilled into the real world this year. In the U.K., the Muppet Christmas Carol in Concert tour is returning for another round of live performances, complete with a full orchestra accompanying the movie.

Meanwhile, Disney’s merchandise machine is getting into the festive spirit with not one but two advent calendars — a plushie edition and a collectible pins version — each themed around Kermit, Miss Piggy, and company as seen in the beloved 1992 film.

With the movie’s cultural footprint still going strong, many fans are now asking: could The Muppet Christmas Carol finally make its way into the Disney Parks?

Historically, the Muppets have enjoyed a modest but loyal presence across Disney’s theme parks. Muppet*Vision 3D has been a staple at Disney’s Hollywood Studios since the early 1990s, serving as one of the late Jim Henson’s final projects. But sadly, it closed earlier this year along with the rest of Grand Avenue to make way for a new Monsters, Inc.-themed land.

Elsewhere in the park, Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is set for a major overhaul, shedding its aging rock-and-roll identity for a full Muppet makeover, set to debut in summer 2026. Details remain under wraps, but it’s clear Disney isn’t ready to hang up Kermit’s banjo just yet.

But where could The Muppet Christmas Carol fit in? A permanent attraction might not make sense for a film so tied to the holiday season, but a pop-up experience could. From a temporary ride overlay to a limited-time stage show, there’s plenty of opportunity for Disney to deck the halls, Muppet-style.

Given the film’s continued popularity, the timing feels perfect. With concert tours, collectibles, and annual rewatches keeping the spirit alive, perhaps it’s finally time for The Muppet Christmas Carol to take center stage at Disney Parks.
