Disney Makes Major Change to Fireworks Shows!

I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite things about visiting a Disney theme park is being able to watch — and dance along with — the incredible nighttime spectacular.

At Walt Disney World Resort, Happily Ever After at the Magic Kingdom and Luminous at EPCOT are top-notch. Over at Disneyland Resort, Wondrous Journeys — which was created to celebrate Disney’s 100th Anniversary — is so amazing that it will move you to tears.

There are a lot of amazing spots to watch Disneyland’s nighttime fireworks shows — including Main Street, U.S.A., along the Rivers of America, and by “it’s a small world”. But there is one spot that will truly give you a unique view of the show — Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

The only downside about watching the fireworks from Galaxy’s Edge is that there is no music. The booms from the fireworks are so loud that they can make your teeth rattle. It is a little bit harder to get into the show because of this. There is no music to complement the fireworks, and no way to know what the fireworks sequence is supposed to represent.

But that will soon change.

Theme park insider Scott Gustin shared that, beginning April 5, music will be added to Galaxy’s Edge during the fireworks show. The music will run through June 2. This will be done as Disney once again celebrates Season of the Force.

Disneyland Resort shared new details about Season of the Force April 5-June 2. On nights with Disneyland Park fireworks, you can experience “Fire of the Rising Moons” – an alternate view of fireworks seen only from Galaxy’s Edge and is accompanied with music by John Williams.

What’s even more exciting is that the music that will play in Galaxy’s Edge during the fireworks show will be written by John Williams. Williams wrote the original music heard in classic Star Wars films. Williams is also the mind behind the music heard in the Indiana Jones and Harry Potter franchises.

Williams has had such an amazing impact on Disney and Lucasfilm that he will be made a Disney Legend during this year’s D23 Ultimate fan event. D23 will take place from August 9 through August 11.

During Season of the Force, Disney will actually have several fireworks shows instead of one. From March 22 through April 14, guests will be able to watch Wondrous Journeys. Then, from April 15 through April 25, Mickey’s Mix Magic will return to The Happiest Place on Earth.

April 26 will see the beginning of Pixar Fest. So, on nights when fireworks are shown, guests will be able to watch Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular. The Pixar-themed fireworks will be shown through August 4.

It is important to note that Disneyland does not show fireworks every single night. Disneyland only has fireworks on select nights — mainly weekends. However, during the summer, fireworks are shown on a nightly basis, weather permitting. The new music in Galaxy’s Edge will only be piped into the area on the nights when there are fireworks.

Are you excited to hear that music is being added to Galaxy’s Edge during the fireworks? Let us know in the comments!
