Amazon in partnership with the Walt Disney Company just announced a brand new Alexa-style voice assistant, “Hey, Disney” will be coming to Walt Disney World hotels to assist Guests during their vacations!
Beginning in 2022, Guests will be able to ask and quickly receive answers for park hours and availability, directions, and more as they plan their Disney vacations on the go with the latest Amazon technology.
Hey, Disney will feature over 1,000 custom interactions just for Walt Disney World Resort Guests and Disney fans planning their vacations from home. Some of the customizations will include character voices and original recordings from Disney’s library of source materials, perfect for some indoor family-friendly fun!
The system can also be used for requesting services in Disney resort hotels, such as requesting additional items like towels and securing additional housekeeping needs from the front desk. In terms of privacy in hotel rooms, recording capabilities will not be enabled and personal data will not be collected, similarly to how hotels that currently have in-room iPads function without collecting data and erasing any changed content between Guests.
One of the features we are most looking forward to is the access to Disney soundscapes, where audio environments from hit Disney films can be activated simply by asking Hey, Disney. (This sounds like a great feature for those looking for background noise while studying or falling asleep.) Hey, Disney is also set to include jokes and Disney trivia, plus features from characters across the Disney brand, including Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars.
The full experience with Hey, Disney will be hosted by a new “Disney Magical Companion,” basically Disney’s version of Alexa. We do not have details on what this new voice system will be like quite yet, but if you have an Alexa note that the Disney Magical Companion will be totally unique to Hey, Disney.
We’re always excited to see new technology arrive that will make planning your next Disney vacation a breeze and we are excited to try Hey, Disney next year!
