New Health Measures Disney May Employ When the Parks Reopen

MagicBand Entrance

Stop the Touchpoints?

Upon entering the parks, guests are required to touch their MagicBands to the touchpoints and then use of finger to verify their identity.  We are aware that during high crowd times of the year, Disney will skip the second step.  Prior to the park closing, Disney also discontinued the use of the fingerprint scan since those surfaces cannot feasibly be cleaned after each use.

Changes to Capacity

As we approach the month mark that most social distancing policies have been in place, we’ve noticed stores putting tape marks on the floor for guests waiting in line and limiting the number of people who can be in a store at a time.  We would imagine Disney would adopt similar attempts to limit the number of people coming in close contact.  We would expect this to take the form of limitations and reductions of tables in restaurants to allow more space between guests and Cast Members.  We could also see some of the smaller gift shops being restricted in the number of guests allowed to shop at a time.  We would hope that these changes would be temporary until things return to a state of normalcy.

Respecting Ongoing Personal Choices

We’ve gotten used to doing things in a different way to protect ourselves and flatten the curve.  Disney has always been supportive of guests and their personal decisions regarding their well-being.  This is evidenced in the options and choices guests are given in their menus and food choices.  Disney will remain supportive of guests and encourage guests to continue with social distancing and give everyone some space, as well as encouraging and making it easier to wash or sanitize their hands.

Would you support these changes for your health once the parks re-open?  Do you think Disney will institute any additional changes to keep you safe?
