Turning Red, the latest animated film from Disney and Pixar just debuted on Disney+. Now, following the film’s release, users on the Disney streaming platform have the option to change their profile avatar to one of Mei Lee, the film’s main character as she ‘poofs’ into a giant red panda.
The avatar is available to add to your profile in the settings options area of your Disney+ account. Check out the new avatar design below:

The story of Turning Red follows 13-year-old Mei Lee, voiced by Rosalie Chiang, who finds herself torn between the awkwardness and excitement of her teen years and the overprotective relationship she has with her mother, and on top of everything else “poofs” into a giant red panda when she gets too excited. The film showcases the uniqueness behind this dynamic in a mother/daughter relationship, along with the relatable changes of adolescence and the memorable mix of comedy and emotional storytelling that Pixar is known for.

In addition to Rosalie Chiang, the film features voice work by Sandra Oh and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and was directed by Domee Shi known for her role as the first woman to direct a Pixar short with the critically acclaimed Bao that appeared in theaters before The Incredibles 2 (2018).
Turning Red was originally scheduled for a theatrical release but was later moved to Disney+, much to the disappointment of the artists at Pixar who worked on the production. Some early reviews of the new coming-of-age story also support a theatrical release, and despite making the move to streaming, Turning Red has largely positive reviews so far, including a 95% critics score and 75% audience score as of this writing on Rotten Tomatoes.
