Next ‘Jurassic Park’ Film Likely To Bring Back Divisive ‘Fallen Kingdom’ Storyline

The Jurassic Park franchise has always thrived on memorable supporting characters just as much as its prehistoric stars. Over the years, fan-favorite figures like Ray Arnold and Dennis Nedry have remained oddly influential despite their brutal on-screen exits.

With the series continuing to explore genetic experimentation and corporate secrets, future installments could bring back some of those characters — either through recovered InGen files, flashbacks, or digital re-creations.

Ray Arnold, played by Samuel L. Jackson in the 1993 original, was last seen attempting to restore power before meeting his off-screen demise at the hands of the park’s escaped predators.

Dennis Nedry, portrayed by Wayne Knight, became one of the franchise’s most memorable villains after sabotaging the park’s systems before his fatal encounter with a Dilophosaurus. Both characters were deeply tied to InGen’s early operations, leaving plenty of unexplored history that future stories could mine.

The latest film in the series, Jurassic World Rebirth, hit theaters last summer and earned $869.1 million globally.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, the film starred Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, introducing audiences to a new generation of characters. But while the film performed strongly at the box office, it received mixed to negative reviews from critics.

Reports now suggest a sequel, tentatively dubbed Jurassic World 8 or Rebirth 2, is in early development, with Edwards and members of the main cast rumored to be in talks to return. The follow-up will most likely expand on the mysteries of ÃŽle Saint-Hubert, the remote island introduced in Rebirth, while potentially revisiting the abandoned human cloning storyline tied to Maisie Lockwood.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens with the next film, but if the franchise wants to continue leaning on nostalgia like the previous sequels have, then bringing back characters — even those killed off in the original film — would be an interesting way to continue evolving a series that has already explored some pretty outlandish territory.
