The first real glimpse of a refreshed Little Mermaid – Ariel's Undersea Adventure has arrived at Disney California Adventure Park. Disneyland Resort has rolled up part of the themed scrim that has hidden the attraction building for two months, though scaffolding and plywood walls are still standing.
A Project Nobody Announced

In August, plywood barriers appeared outside the ride in the Paradise Gardens Park area at Disney California Adventure Park. The sight surprised guests, since Disneyland Resort had never mentioned plans to refurbish the attraction.
Over the next several weeks, it became clear that cast members were repainting the facade and doing general maintenance. The barriers eventually wrapped nearly the entire building, leaving only the entrance accessible. Scrim printed with an image of the facade covered the structure. For two months, the ride has operated that way, fully concealed outside and unchanged inside.
The Scrim Comes Up

WDWNT reported on October 21 that much of the themed scrim had been rolled up and tied to the upper levels of scaffolding. Scaffolding and plywood still block much of the building, but the rolled fabric exposes the refreshed facade for the first time.
Because the scaffolding remains and the scrim is simply tied to the metal framework, the fabric could be lowered again if Disneyland Resort decides more work is needed. The resort hasn't said when it expects the project to be finished.
The Ride Keeps Running

Despite all the construction outside, The Little Mermaid – Ariel's Undersea Adventure remains open and operational. Disneyland Resort hasn't announced any refurbishment or closure for the attraction inside the building, so guests can still enjoy the Disney California Adventure Park ride while the exterior maintenance work continues.
