A walk-through attraction in Adventureland has drawn increasing attention from Disney guests who say it appears closed far more often than open.
The Pirate Galleon – a large ship once designed for climbing and exploration at Disneyland Paris – remains visually prominent on Adventure Isle but is rarely accessible to guests.

Visitors have reported the same experience across multiple years. The structure is still listed on the Disneyland Paris website, is still included on Adventure Isle maps, and remains a central visual landmark. However, signage and railings routinely block guest entry without any posted explanation.
Will The Ship Just Sit There Forever?
The ongoing uncertainty has led guests to seek answers online. One wrote, “I have seen posts dating back to 2016 with people saying the Pirate Galleon is shut, and I was there in June 2025 and it was closed, and it still says it's closed now. Does anyone know why they initially shut it, and do they actually have any plans to reopen it or will it just sit there as decoration forever?”
The resort has not issued a public statement about the attraction’s operational status. The official description continues to market the ship as an interactive experience, including the line: “Jump aboard this famous Jolly Roger-flying galleon for an ‘all hands on deck' buccaneering blast. Arrr!”

Some guests cite weather conditions as a frequent reason for closure. One commenter explained, “The problem is usually weather. The wood gets slippery when wet, and people might fall and hurt themselves… they tend to shut down everything as soon as any amount of rain has fallen.”
Other Factors Cited by Guests
Others say that the explanation doesn’t account for closures observed during extended dry periods. One visitor reported a week of temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius (not Fahrenheit) with no rainfall, during which the ship remained closed, questioning what conditions were driving the decision-making.
Maintenance has also come up in discussions. One guest wrote, “DLP doesn't maintain anything on time, so things get damaged and become dangerous, and then they close them. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a structural integrity issue, and not just a problem of ‘slippery when wet’.” Some guests have also suggested that staffing limitations may play a role, though no operational details have been confirmed.

The Pirate Galleon does occasionally reopen. Guests have reported limited access windows in recent years. However, many say they have not encountered it open across multiple visits spanning different seasons. For families who remember the ship as a key Adventure Isle feature, the inconsistency has been disappointing.
The attraction remains in place and is still frequently photographed from bridges, paths, and lookout points. Without its interactive component, however, its role in the land has shifted from active play environment to static set piece.
Disneyland Paris has not commented on whether the Pirate Galleon is awaiting refurbishment, scheduled for return, or being phased out silently. For now, the ship remains closed more often than it is accessible, leaving many guests to draw their own conclusions.
