Following last year’s debut of Qimir—Manny Jacinto’s mysterious dual-blade wielder in The Acolyte—Star Wars is once again diving into double-saber territory. This time, though, the franchise is putting a LEGO twist on its latest villain.
The Acolyte, which premiered in the summer of 2024, set its sights on the High Republic timeline and introduced an all-new cast of characters. Under the direction of showrunner Leslye Headland, the series faced intense online criticism and failed to capture enough viewership to justify its cost. As a result, Lucasfilm quietly pulled the plug.
Still, it brought compelling characters into the canon: Amandla Stenberg’s dual roles as Osha and Mae Aniseya, their mother figure Mother Aniseya (Jodie Turner-Smith), Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae), and of course, Qimir—the alluring, dangerous Stranger played by Jacinto.
Despite its early end, the door remains open for many of the show’s mysteries to unfold elsewhere. But with the live-action chapter concluded, attention now shifts to a galaxy built from bricks.
Following the success of LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, Lucasfilm is returning with a sequel: Pieces of the Past. The project promises to turn Star Wars canon upside down once again, delivering a satirical spin on familiar lore when it arrives on Disney+ this fall.
A new villain takes center stage—Master Solitus, a former Jedi who’s clearly drifted to the dark side. Voiced by Dan Stevens (Beauty and the Beast), Solitus is also the former mentor of Jedi Bob (Bobby Moynihan) and will now begin training Darth Rev, voiced by Tony Revolori.
“Dev’s divided journey is muddled even further with the introduction of Solitus. ‘Darth Dev would describe Solitus as the Master he’s always been looking for. A true Sith Lord! Someone who can finally teach him his place in the universe,’ Revolori said via The Direct. ‘But that’s not how the actor would put it for himself. ‘I would describe him as having a whole lot of issues; he needs a friend and some love badly.’”
In a twist on tradition, Solitus doesn’t wield the familiar red blades of Sith legend. Instead, he brandishes dual purple lightsabers, reminiscent of Mace Windu’s iconic look from the prequels. It’s yet another way the series pokes fun at—and pays tribute to—franchise lore. Fans may recall The Acolyte’s dramatic crystal bleeding scene with Osha, which could serve as inspiration here, albeit in a lighter tone.
The four-part miniseries drops September 19, 2025, on Disney+. Once again, Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit return as creators, using the freedom of LEGO’s non-canon setting to lampoon, remix, and celebrate Star Wars history.
The show’s announcement came during Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo, Japan. Onstage for the big reveal were Ahmed Best—whose Darth Jar Jar stole the show in the original Rebuild the Galaxy—and Ashley Eckstein, who confirmed a return to Ahsoka Tano, but in an all-new incarnation.
This time around, Eckstein lends her voice to “BrickHeadz Ahsoka,” a fresh take on the beloved character. The voice actor reflected on the journey of Ahsoka with fans.
“Last time I was on this stage, I talked about how Ahsoka lives in all of us, and we’ve really made Ahsoka’s story our own story,” Eckstein said. “We’ve experienced Star Wars for an entire generation through Ahsoka’s eyes… and we’ve literally created our own story through Ahsoka, and that’s what this story is about. There’s so much heart in BrickHeadz Ahsoka, and we’re all going to relate to her. You’re going to love it.”
Returning voice cast members include Gaten Matarazzo, Tony Revolori, Bobby Moynihan, Ben Schwartz, along with Eckstein and Best. Their performances will once again bring chaotic energy and surprising depth to this irreverent Star Wars offshoot.
