Disney Genie+ Will Finally Be Worth The Money!

Is Disney Genie+ Worth The Money?

Readers, ever since it came into existence, I have been a firm believer that Disney Genie+ is not worth the money it costs Walt Disney World Resort Guests per person per day–especially when it is for something that used to be free: the Disney FastPass System, now Lightning Lane.

But I am ready to concede that starting next month, Disney Genie+ will finally start proving its worth, literally.

Disney Genie

On February 23, we at Disney Fanatic shared the news that Disney Parks finally announced when Walt Disney World Resort Guests would have complimentary PhotoPass downloads added to the Disney Genie+ service.

Disney Parks Blog stated,

Starting March 20, guests purchasing Disney Genie+ service will also receive digital downloads of their Disney PhotoPass attraction photos, taken in the park on the day of their purchase, at no additional charge.

Initially championed by the ride photo on the now-extinct Splash Mountain, Disney World Guests can enjoy candid pictures caught of them enjoying scores of their favorite rides across Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. These rides include Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Haunted Mansion, Slinky Dog Dash, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Frozen Ever After, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and Expedition Everest.

Under normal circumstances, these pictures are only available with DisneyPhotoPass, which can cost hundreds of dollars for visiting families. Now, for the same price as Disney Genie+, they will be able to download them onto their digital devices for watermark-free sharing across their social media.

Don’t get me wrong, I am still bitter about having to pay for formerly complimentary FastPasses, but if I can skip the line of my favorite ride and get my picture, then it will be an easier pill to swallow.

Remember, though, that this does not appear include Disney PhotoPass pictures elsewhere, like in front of Cinderella Castle, but it’s a start in the right direction.
