James Bond is preparing to return to the big screen, with Amazon MGM Studios developing the next chapter of the iconic franchise following Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007 in No Time to Die (2021).
Denis Villeneuve (the Dune films) is directing the upcoming movie, with Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) writing the screenplay and Amy Pascal (Spider-Man: Brand New Day) and David Heyman (the Harry Potter films) producing. But the identity of the next 007 remains unknown.
While fans wait for Amazon MGM Studios to make the announcement, the franchise has already been expanding in several other directions.
Earlier this year, 007 First Light (2026) introduced a new version of the character in a standalone game from IO Interactive, with Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) starring as the young Bond. The game follows Bond as a 26-year-old recruit beginning his journey into MI6.
There has also been plenty happening in the literary world of Bond. Kim Sherwood’s Hurricane Room (2026), the third novel in the Double O series, is now available, while Charlie Higson’s King Zero (2026) is set to arrive in September.
M.W. Craven’s James Bond and the Secret Agent Academy is also scheduled for 2027.
Big Finish Productions is also adapting Higson’s SilverFin (2005) as an audio drama series, with Isaac Rouse (The Crown) starring as the teenage James Bond. It's scheduled to arrive in October 2026.
Now, another piece of Bond history is returning.

Titan Comics is releasing Ian Fleming’s James Bond Signature Comic Strip Collection Vol. 1, a new hardcover collecting the first seven full-length 007 newspaper comic-strip adventures. The collection is scheduled for release in February 2027 (not September 8 as stated in the statement below), and will run for 296 pages.
The release was announced in March this year, with the official Ian Fleming Publications X (Twitter) account writing:
We are excited to announce that Ian Fleming’s James Bond Signature Comic Strip Collection will hit shelves on September 8, 2026.

The stories date back to the earliest years of Bond’s comic-strip history, beginning with Casino Royale and continuing through Live and Let Die, Moonraker, Diamonds Are Forever, From Russia, with Love, Dr. No, and Goldfinger. The strips originally ran between July 1958 and May 1961.
The official description reads:
Often imitated but never bettered, this classic collection includes the first three years of James Bond newspaper strips from July 1958 till May 61 and includes full-length stories of Casino Royal, Live and Let Die, Moonraker, Diamonds Are Forever, From Russia, with Love, Dr. No and Goldfinger. James Bond became a cultural phenomenon and spawned a world-wide love affair with the whole spy genre which still resonates to this day.
This book is a must-have for fans of James Bond. Mixing incredible gadgets, thrilling car chases, beautiful women, hard-hitting action and the occasional Vodka Martini, shaken not stirred. This book also includes a unique and extensive gallery of scanned original artwork selected from the McLusky archive by his family.

So, while fans continue waiting to discover who will become the next cinematic 007, the original Bond is officially coming back in another form.
