Authorities are investigating after an overnight break-in at Disney Springs left one of the area’s most recognizable restaurants missing cash.

Details of the Robbery
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crime happened just after midnight on September 15, 2025. Paddlefish, a well-known dining spot shaped like a classic steamboat, had closed for the evening when an unidentified individual entered the property. Investigators say the suspect managed to take money from the restaurant before leaving the scene.

So far, law enforcement has not shared how the person gained entry or the amount of money that was taken. Thankfully, no one was hurt, though it’s still unclear if any employees were present when the theft occurred. The case is still active, and detectives are continuing their search for answers.
Paddlefish’s Unique Legacy
Paddlefish isn’t just any restaurant at Disney Springs. It’s housed inside a permanently docked steamboat, giving guests the feeling of dining on the water without ever setting sail. The location is especially popular for its seafood offerings and rooftop deck that overlooks the water.

The vessel itself has been part of Disney history for nearly 50 years. It first opened in 1977 as the Empress Lilly, named after Walt Disney’s wife, Lillian. In 1996, it was transformed into Fulton’s Crab House, which remained a staple for over two decades. After another round of reimagining, it reopened as Paddlefish in 2017 under the operation of Levy Restaurants.
Rare Incident at Disney Springs
Disney Springs is home to more than 150 shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. While the complex stays open late, crime reports are unusual. Security is a visible presence, and most businesses close around 11 p.m. For that reason, the break-in has left many surprised.

Looking Ahead
The investigation is ongoing, and local authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward. For now, Paddlefish remains open to guests, and daily operations are continuing without interruption.
