Walt Disney World Resort is known as The Most Magical Place on Earth. Each year, millions of people visit Disney World, ready to make memories that will last a lifetime. Disney World is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world — especially for families with children. What makes Disney so wonderful is that it is a place where people can feel safe. It is still in the real world, so anything can happen, but Cast Members work hard to make sure Guests are safe and happy. Unfortunately, not all Cast Members become Disney employees for wholesome reasons.
Polk County, Florida, lies just outside of Orlando. It is the county next to Orange County, where Disney World is. Recently, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office conducted a sting and arrested a number of men for various child pornography charges. We have learned that one of the men arrested — Paul Viel — worked as a Cast Member at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café in the Magic Kingdom.
According to Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Viel, who lives in Davenport, Florida, is a sadomasochist — a person who finds sexual pleasure in the pain of others. Viel was arrested after incredibly disturbing images of very young children and babies were found on his computer. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, who has led these kinds of stings before, described Viel as a “monster.” He said that Viel wanted to become a Disney World Cast Member so he could be around children every day.
Viel is facing an astonishing 540 counts of child pornography. Each charge is a felony. If he is found guilty, Viel will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Sadly, this is not the first time a Walt Disney World Cast Member has been arrested in a child porn sting. In May, another Cast Member, Daniel Rivera, was arrested by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on similar charges. Rivera had worked at Walt Disney World Resort for 20 years.
In April, another Disney World Cast Member was arrested after he was caught shooting “upskirt” pictures and videos of female Guests. It was later discovered that the Cast Member — Jorge Diazvega — had shot hundreds of those types of videos. Diazvega admitted to police that he had over 500 videos like the one he was caught shooting in the Park.
