Social Media Erupts as Pedro Pascal Praises Rachel Zegler, but Remains Silent on Gina Carano

Social Media Reactions to Pascal’s Praise

Pedro Pascal’s recent praise for Rachel Zegler’s performance in Disney’s live-action Snow White has ignited many reactions across social media platforms. His post, which featured a heartfelt photo of Zegler with the caption “#icon,” was not received without criticism.

Many users protested, pointing out the perceived inconsistency in Pascal’s advocacy. While he openly supports Zegler, no similar support followed for Gina Carano, his former co-star who faced significant backlash after her dismissal from Mandalorian.

Critics have noted that Pascal has previously made controversial statements, further complicating the narrative. Social media users highlighted this discrepancy, with many questioning why he would celebrate Zegler while remaining silent on Carano’s situation. This selective public support has stirred a mix of responses, showcasing the complexities of celebrity involvement in political and social discourse.

Rachel Ziegler’s Controversial Public Image

Since her involvement in Snow White, Rachel Zegler has faced her share of criticism. Her comments referring to the original film as “outdated” sparked controversy from the outset. She has made political remarks that have further complicated her public image, including statements regarding Palestine and opposition to Trump supporters, which have drawn ire from various audiences.

The impact of Zegler’s public image has had tangible effects on Snow White‘s box office performance. The film reportedly suffered a disastrous second-week drop of 66%, collecting only $14.2 million domestically. Critics have attributed some of this poor performance to Zegler’s statements, leading to debates about her influence on the film’s reception.

Despite this, some reviewers argue that Zegler may still be one of the few bright spots in an otherwise troubled production, illustrating the divided opinions on her performance.

The Gina Carano Fallout

The contrast between the reactions to Pascal’s support for Zegler and the treatment of Gina Carano draws significant discussion. Carano was controversially dismissed from The Mandalorian after making statements comparing the current U.S. administration to Nazi Germany. This action prompted public outcry, and she is currently pursuing legal action against Disney, claiming political discrimination in her termination.

Public reaction to Carano’s firing has been polarized. Many fans have rallied behind her, questioning the fairness of her dismissal versus the continued support for other actors like Zegler. Some perceive Pascal’s failure to voice support for Carano after her exit as a double standard, adding another layer to the ongoing discourse about celebrity accountability in the entertainment industry.

Future Prospects for Pascal and Zegler

Looking forward, Pedro Pascal is not slowing down, with several anticipated projects set to release soon. Disney is banking on Pascal’s star power, particularly in upcoming films like The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Mandalorian, and Grogu. Despite the backlash he faces from some sections of the public, it appears unlikely that Disney will take a stand against him, considering their history of successful collaborations.

Both Pascal and Zegler’s futures remain somewhat precarious amidst public scrutiny. With Disney striving to regain box office success following Snow White’s disappointing performance, the mixed reception could significantly influence the career paths of its stars.

In an era increasingly focused on accountability, navigating public opinion will be crucial for Pascal, Zegler, and others in their industry. As they move forward, balancing personal beliefs, professional relationships, and public perception will be more critical than ever.
