When visiting Walt Disney World Resort’s iconic Magic Kingdom Park, there are six distinct “lands” that guests can enjoy. Those are Main Street, USA, Liberty Square, Adventureland, Tomorrowland, Frontierland, and Fantasyland. Each land brings guests into a new and exciting place. One of the busiest areas in the park is Fantasyland, which embraces everything fairy tale and magical that Disney World has to offer. It is especially popular amongst guests with younger children.
Fantasyland is so well-liked by guests that, from 2010 through 2014, the area underwent a massive expansion that almost doubled its size. There are a number of rides and attractions that guests can enjoy in Fantasyland, including Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Dumbo, “it’s a small world”, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, and Enchanted Tales with Belle.
Even before the expansion, one of the most in-demand rides was Peter Pan’s Flight. The ride has guests board an enchanted ship and sail through London to Never Never Land as they relive the classic animated film. They encounter mermaids, Lost Boys, the nefarious Captain Hook, and even Tick-Tock Croc.
Unfortunately, one guest is claiming that their decision to ride Peter Pan’s Flight was a bad one that resulted in injuries to their child.
According to a lawsuit filed on September 11 in the Orange County Circuit Court, Daniel Blanco claims that he was riding the attraction with his child when the ride broke down. The lawsuit states that the cast member made the announcement that the ride would be starting up, and the ride vehicle jerked forward. That motion reportedly caused Blanco’s child’s head to whip back and hit the back of the ride vehicle.
Blanco claims that his child suffered from whiplash and suffered “severe and permanent injuries”. However, the lawsuit does not state what those injuries are.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the Blanco family by the law firm Morgan & Morgan. They are seeking more than $50,000 in damages, excluding costs, interest, and attorney’s fees.
This is not the only gust lawsuit that Disney is currently dealing with. Another guest — who is also using Morgan & Morgan — is suing Disney for more than $50,000. The woman claims that the monorail doors shut on her during her visit to Walt Disney World and that she has suffered “permanent injury.”
She claims that the doors closed on her while she was trying to exit the monorail. The woman said that she was stuck in the doors for several minutes and in “excruciating pain” while several male guests worked to help her.
Disney also deals with many lawsuits of people claiming injuries while in their parks. Guests sue over things like slip and falls, and even being hurt by EVC scooters while walking around the parks. EVC scooters are becoming so problematic that some guests are demanding harsher restrictions for those renting them.
