One of our favorite pastimes when visiting Walt Disney World is to take some time away from the parks and enjoy exploring one of the resorts. This can be the resort that we are staying at or venturing somewhere new to see what there is to discover somewhere else. Regardless of which you choose, you’re guaranteed to have a relaxing day and are bound to find something new and different. One of our favorite pair of resorts can be food in the Crescent Lake Resort area near Epcot: the Yacht and Beach Club. Here are our tips on how to plan the most relaxing day at these wonderfully themed resorts!
1. Delicious Breakfast
Yacht and Beach Club have two very good restaurants that are sure to please. At the Yacht Club, guests can enjoy breakfast at the Ale and Compass Restaurant. Here, guests can sample from an inventive menu or choose to enjoy a buffet with an array of New England-style dishes that will satisfy anyone’s appetite. If you are looking for a little more fun with breakfast, head over to the Beach Club and the Cape May Cafe, where guests can enjoy an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet featuring traditional Disney selections of bacon, eggs, sausage, cereals, an assortment of fruits, as well as the classic Mickey waffle! While enjoying your meal, guests should be prepared for a visit from some amazing Disney characters — Goofy, Minnie, and Donald will all stop by your table in their finest resort wear and pose for pictures while you eat! It doesn’t matter where you eat because you will leave with one happy stomach!
2. Relax at Stormalong Bay
Yacht and Beach Club share a pool. This pool is one of the best on property. To be able to enjoy Stormalong Bay, you will need to be a guest of either of the properties. Once inside the pool, guests will love how the pool meanders around like they were swimming in the actual ocean! What makes this experience even more realistic is the sand that is on the bottom of the pool. Guests can also climb the stairs and take a wild ride on one of the fastest resort slides on property! Whether you want to relax and read a book or splash around in the pool, we are confident that you’ll want to spend a good portion of your day here!
3. Enjoy a Refreshing Beverage
Between the pool and the resorts, adult guests can find a few places to grab a refreshing libation as the sun begins to set at the pool. The first choice is the poolside bar, Hurricane Hanna’s. Guests can choose from a traditional margarita, to a Mai Tai, or other unique cocktails. Inside the resorts, guests looking for a quiet place to unwind and enjoy the game should head to the Crew’s Cup Lounge located at the Yacht Club just near the Yachtsman Steakhouse. If you’re feeling a little peckish, they have a substantial bar menu that will tide you over till dinner. Lastly, to end the night, guests will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and comfortable seating at Martha’s Vineyard Lounge at the Beach Club. The open area is inviting and can be the perfect end to your day!
4. Leisurely Stroll Around Crescent Lake
Given the prime location of the resorts, guests may choose to work up an appetite for dinner (or burn some of those calories off) by taking a walk around Crescent Lake. Guests will be able to take in views of the Crescent Lake Resorts — the Swan and Dolphin, as well as the Boardwalk. There are plenty of restaurants around, as well as stores that might entice guests to purchase a souvenir!
5. Boat/Bike Ride
Guests can also take in these views by hopping aboard one of the Friendship Boats that ferry guests between the various Crescent Lake Resorts, as well as Epcot and Hollywood Studios. No need to hop off at any of the stops — just enjoy the relaxing ride and take in the view! Guests can also rent a surrey bike to ride around the Boardwalk area and complete the experience of relaxing and vacationing in a posh beachside resort! No matter what method you choose, you’ll have a great time exploring this area!
6. Filling Dinner
For dinner, guests can elect to dine at many restaurants: an all you-care-to-enjoy seafood buffet at the Cape May Café, a juicy burger and filling sundae at Beaches and Cream. Or, if your tastes are more refined and you are in need of heartier fare, check out the Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club or try the dinner menu at the Ale and Compass. Having sampled food from all of these restaurants, guests are sure to enjoy whatever item they pick off of the menu.

7. Nighttime Entertainment
If after a day of relaxing and enjoying delicious food and drink, you are ready from some nighttime entertainment, guests can elect to enjoy the fireworks at either of the nearby theme parks. If you need something more low-key, we recommend checking out either Jellyrolls – a dueling piano bar on the Boardwalk or the Atlantic Dance Hall.
The resorts are great places to relax and explore unique offerings that guests may usually overlook. Have you stayed at the Yacht or Beach Club? What is your favorite way to relax when staying at these resorts?
