When you’re a company as big as the Walt Disney Company, you’re bound to inspire a lot of opinions. As many Disney Fanatics know, this week marked a monumental change in Disney history. Florida governor Ron DeSantis signed the dissolution of Reedy Creek’s special status into law. This is a massive change for both Disney and the state, and fans from all over the world have been commenting on it and sharing their opinions about what this means; not all of the opinions were favorable. One late show created a video that spoke out against the recent developments sharing how Disney World had now turned to “DeSantis World.”

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert shared a satire video on their channel speaking out against Walt Disney World Resort losing its special self-governing status; the video primarily addressed Governor Ron DeSantis, highlighting that the move gives Florida’s governor “control of the board that oversees development at the Resort’s properties.” It adds that the move is seen as “punishment” for Disney opposing DeSantis’s “Don’t Say Gay” law, officially called the Parental Rights in Education Act.

The video opens with the statement, “We here at Disney Parks have received our marching orders and are thrilled to announce updates to our de-wokefied magical kingdom.” It has already seen over 100K views and over 500 comments, with many fans debating the efficacy of this move on the part of the state of Florida.

The video’s satirical take at claiming that Walt Disney World is now “DeSantis World” is a representation of the backlash that the Florida governor is facing for this move. However, it is unknown at this time how this change will affect the Walt Disney World Resort and the state of Florida in its full capacity.
