The iconic Tarzan’s Treehouse in Adventureland at Disneyland Park is currently closed for refurbishment. Now, the OC Register has revealed that according to Disneyland officials, a reimagining of the attraction with a new theme and backstory is in the works.

Previously, Guests could tour the legendary vine-swinger’s jungle home, built in an 80-foot-tall tree to experience life on the wild side.

OC Register reports, “The treehouse experience isn’t going away, but the Tarzan theme won’t return when the attraction reopens, according to Disneyland officials. The walk-through attraction’s new theme, backstory and reopening date have not yet been announced.”

Demolition of the entrance to Tarzan’s Treehouse will begin immediately (Monday, April 18). The attraction has been closed with construction tarps since September 2021.

Rumors are swirling among the Disney fandom that Disneyland is planning an Encanto (2021) layover. Interestingly enough, we too recently put out an OpEd suggesting this retheming! As Encanto continues to grow in popularity, CEO Bob Chapek has made it clear that there are plans to grow Encanto into a franchise with a possible attraction within the Disney Parks.

Although Disney has yet to make mention of Magic Kingdom’s Swiss Family Treehouse in its Adventureland, we’re curious to hear in the future if reimagining plans are in the works for this treehouse experience as well?

Disneyland describes the current Tarzen Treehouse attraction as “At Home in the Jungle”:

Your adventure begins as you clamber up a tree stump and cross a rope bridge high in the sky. Overgrown with vines and constructed out of parts salvaged from his tragic shipwreck, the tree house features ingenious inventions and vignettes from Tarzan’s epic life story.

Peruse drawings from Jane’s sketchbook that tell the tale of the young English lord who was marooned in the jungle, orphaned and raised by a tribe of gorillas. The tree’s scientific name is Disneydendron semperflorens grandis or “large ever-blooming Disney tree” and some incredible views await you at the top! Explore the high life at this airy abode from a bygone time!

We will be sure to share further details once Disney reveals what’s to come for Tarzan’s Treehouse at Disneyland.
