The construction situation at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort has reached a point that's hard to ignore.
The Great Ceremonial House Is Nearly Surrounded

WDWMagic shared a photo on Tuesday capturing the current state of the Great Ceremonial House — the central lobby building at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort — showing plastic fencing, rolling planters, and scaffolding wrapping around much of the structure.
The exterior refurbishment that began in January 2026 has been steadily expanding its reach around the building that anchors the entire resort experience, housing check-in, merchandise locations, the Monorail station, ‘Ohana, and Kona Cafe.
Walt Disney World Resort has not announced a completion date for the exterior work, leaving guests without a clear picture of when the Great Ceremonial House will return to its usual appearance.
The Impact on Guests Right Now

The construction consequences are being felt most acutely at ‘Ohana, where the scaffolding and equipment surrounding the Great Ceremonial House have significantly obstructed what is normally one of the most coveted views in any Walt Disney World Resort dining room.
The restaurant's late-dinner service has long been celebrated for its views of Magic Kingdom Park fireworks and the Seven Seas Lagoon — a feature currently compromised by construction equipment surrounding the building. ‘Ohana continues to accept reservations and serve guests throughout the refurbishment, but the experience is measurably different from what Central Florida Disney Park guests are typically paying for.

The outdoor Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace has been closed due to the construction, though the indoor Trader Sam's Grog Grotto and Tiki Bar remains open. Captain Cook's and Pineapple Lanai are both operating normally. Disney has indicated that some construction work will continue through “late June,” but hasn't clarified which timeline applies or what guests can expect once that window passes.
Planning a Stay During Construction
Guests with Disney's Polynesian Village Resort reservations in 2026 should arrive prepared for a hotel that looks considerably different from its usual self. Scaffolding, fencing, and construction equipment will be visible throughout the day near the Great Ceremonial House and surrounding areas.

Walt Disney World Resort typically confines its noisiest work to daytime hours when most guests are at the theme parks, but the visual disruption will still be present. The Front Desk remains the best resource for guests with specific questions about how the refurbishment might affect their particular stay.
