From “across the pond” comes a heartwarming story of Disney dreams coming true!
Seven-year-old Violet Westwood from Halesowen, England, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in April of 2021. Since she began her battle, her family has attempted to raise enough money to take her to the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
According to leicestermercury.co.uk, their goal was £20,000, and they hit it with the help of some star soccer players.

“We are looking for any donations to take her to Disney World Florida to fulfill her dreams,” her family wrote on the fundraiser webpage. “Throughout the whole process since April, she has been so so brave, and just to see her smile would be worth every penny.”
Leicester City Midfielder James Maddison put in the deciding donation at £2,500. The Premier League footballer also invited her to a match this season.
“Have just donated the remaining £2500 to take Violet to her goal of £20,000,” he said. “I hope that brave young girl can enjoy Disney World Florida and kick cancer’s backside. I don’t know if Violet or her family have social media, but if she would ever like to come to a Leicester game as my guest, me and this fantastic club would welcome her with open arms.”

But Maddison was not the only soccer player to help this little girl’s dream come true. Former national team captain Alan Shearer and current defender Tyrone Mings also donated.
Violet and her family look to visit The Most Magical Place On Earth this October. They have left the GoFundMe page open to donations, declaring all money collected over their £20,000 goal going to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Violet will be taking her dream Disney vacation in the midst of her battle. She is due to continue chemotherapy until 2023.
