A trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios can feel incredible one moment and completely chaotic the next.
That is becoming more common as the park continues growing in popularity. What used to feel like a smaller movie-themed park now operates more like a nonstop thrill park filled with some of Walt Disney World’s highest-demand attractions.

For many guests, that also means more stress.
Hollywood Studios has quietly become the park where planning matters the most. Guests who arrive late, skip Lightning Lane planning, or underestimate crowd levels can suddenly find themselves staring at massive waits before lunchtime.
Everybody Wants the Same Rides
One major reason Hollywood Studios feels so crowded is because nearly every guest has the same priority list.
People are racing to experience Slinky Dog Dash, Rise of the Resistance, Tower of Terror, and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. At the same time, huge crowds are trying to explore Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge throughout the day.

That creates crowd bottlenecks across multiple areas of the park.
Hollywood Studios simply does not spread people out the same way other Disney parks do. EPCOT gives guests room to wander. Animal Kingdom naturally slows people down with trails and atmosphere. Magic Kingdom has a massive ride count that helps distribute crowds.
Hollywood Studios feels more concentrated.
When one attraction temporarily shuts down, crowds immediately shift elsewhere. That creates an environment where wait times can spike very quickly across the entire park.
The Phone Dependency Keeps Growing
Many guests also feel like Hollywood Studios requires constant phone usage now.
People are checking Lightning Lane return times, mobile ordering meals, watching attraction wait times, and trying to adjust plans in real time. Instead of casually walking through the park, many visitors spend large portions of the day glued to the My Disney Experience app.

For first-time visitors, that can become frustrating fast.
It creates pressure to constantly stay ahead of the crowds, especially during busy travel periods. Guests often feel like they need a strategy for every hour of the day.
That is very different from the slower Disney vacations many families remember years ago.
The Park Is Still Packed for a Reason
Despite the stress, Hollywood Studios remains one of the most popular parks at Walt Disney World because the experiences are genuinely strong.
Galaxy’s Edge continues pulling in Star Wars fans from around the world. Fantasmic! remains one of Disney’s most popular nighttime shows. The attraction lineup gives guests a full day of major rides and entertainment.

But popularity comes with trade-offs.
The more Disney adds to Hollywood Studios, the more pressure builds on a park that already struggles with congestion and demand. Summer 2026 could push that even further as new entertainment offerings and updated experiences continue arriving.
For many guests, Hollywood Studios is still a must-do park.
They just may need to prepare for a much more intense day than they expected.
