Texas Judge Invites Disney World Into Houston

In light of the recent Disney-related turmoil following Governor Ron DeSantis’ signing of the bill removing Disney’s special Reedy Creek Improvement District in Florida, some Disney fans have been encouraging Disney World to close up shop in Florida and shift the famous Disney Resort to another state — and apparently, at least one Texas resident is very eager to bring Disney World to Houston!

Fort Bend County Judge KP George has written a letter to Disney CEO Bob Chapek directly inviting Walt Disney World Resort into the state. He shared his letter to Chapek (and to Twitter) online, and his letter “touts [the] diversity, growth, high graduation rate, strategic location, and affordability [of Houston, Texas] as an ideal place to relocate”.

“While you, your company, employees and diverse fans face authoritarian, anti-business and culture war attacks from extremists in Florida, we in Fort Bend are more than ready to welcome the Disney family with thousands of good paying jobs and billions of dollars of investments,” the letter says.

George also added that “we encourage small and large business growth through a business-friendly climate” and “we make a difference in our children’s lives everyday through youth empowerment initiatives, and aim to continue improving the quality of life through new, fresh, and innovative ideas.”

This Texas County Judge is not the only one suggesting that the Walt Disney Company relocate Walt Disney World Resort to a new state. Some Disney World fans are suggesting that Disney World Resort should head to New York now that Governor Ron DeSantis (shown above) has signed the bill to remove Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District, and several journalists are sharing their opinion that Disney World should be moving (at the very least) to a state that is not Florida.

“A simple solution to the [Gov. Ron DeSantis’] attack on business, specifically [Disney]. The company should close the current [Walt Disney World] in Florida, tear it down, and build a new and better facility in a nearby state NOT run by religious zealot buffoons,” former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann said in the Tweet shown below.

Journalist Brian Tyler Cohen deleted his Tweet, but it said the following: “Disney could move out of Florida, bring their tens of thousands of jobs along with them, and crash and burn Ron DeSantis’ re-election bid”.

Do you think that Walt Disney World Resort should move out of Florida — and if so, do you think that the Walt Disney Company would actually commit to the undertaking?
