The 6 Things We Love Doing Early in the Morning at Disney

Disney Castle Sunrise

Some people are night owls and can wind the night away at Disney Springs or at the Boardwalk. Others, however, are early birds and get up before the sun rises, even when they are on vacation. For those of you who subscribes to the adage that “the early birds gets the worm” this article explains the six things we love doing early in the morning when at Disney!

6 – Walking Around to Watch the Sunrise – during our trip during Marathon Weekend, I was able to get up early on Sunday and walk around the Boardwalk before the runners were in the area. I was able to take in the sights of Crescent Lake and Spaceship Earth in the distance, as well as the wonderful, intoxicating scents from the Boardwalk Bakery. I loved walking around when most everything is closed because you get to experience Disney in a different state – no crowds and no noise and just admire the sights!

5 – Grabbing a Hearty Breakfast at a Resort – even if the rest of my family doesn’t join me, my favorite meal to dine out for is breakfast. I love having a huge plate of pancakes along with some scrambled eggs and hot biscuits. There are a lot of places around the Walt Disney World Resort that are great for a breakfast, but I like the out-of-the-way places. Recent favorites to my dining list are Olivia’s Café at Old Key West Resort or Trail’s End at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. Be sure to check one of them out on your next trip!

4 – Going for a Run on a New Balance Running Trail – it is easy to take a week off from working out when you are on vacation, but we have recently started training for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon and have discovered the New Balance Running Trails at the various resorts. In addition to being able to get some exercise, we are able to truly experience the resorts and see areas that we might not normally see!

3 – Getting to a Park Before Rope Drop – if you get up early, you have no excuse to miss rope drop at your favorite park! Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom will be treated to the welcome ceremony featuring many Disney characters, music, and even fireworks. The other parks don’t have elaborate welcome ceremonies, but arriving early, guests can experience their favorite attractions without using a FastPass and may even encounter special characters!

2 – Go Somewhere New – when you are up early, you can take the extra time and explore a place you’ve never been before. I enjoy going to a resort I’ve never been to before and taking time to look around the resort and maybe grab something to eat. Guests could also consider trying something different – always head to Magic Kingdom in the morning? Why not try going to Animal Kingdom or Epcot and see what mornings are like over there?

1 – Go Shopping – we also like getting some of our souvenir and gift shopping done first thing because the shelves will have been restocked, the lines aren’t that long, and, depending on where we are shopping, we don’t have to carry around the shopping bags all day long. I particularly like going to the gift shops at the resorts and hunting for resort-specific merchandise.

Mornings at Disney World are a special time and there is plenty to do, even if you family aren’t all morning people. What do you like doing early in the morning at Disney?
