The 7 Things We Love About Harambe Market In Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom

The newest dining location at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a collection of counter-service restaurants located in Harambe Market. It is a welcome addition to Animal Kingdom as it lacks plentiful dining options. There is much to enjoy, but here is our list of our top 7 things at Harambe Market!

7 – Lots of Seating – Harambe Market offers a lot of seating for guests to get out of the sun and enjoy their food at. Since it is themed as a diverse market, the seating is a mishmash of a lot of different kinds of seats – picnic tables, benches, stools, and chairs. I recently ate there during my most recent trip to Animal Kingdom and did not have any problem finding a table at lunchtime.

6 – Zuri’s Sweets Shop – This new addition to Animal Kingdom features a variety of unique candies and gifts. It connects to the other stores in the Harambe Village area of Africa, but take some time and explore what they have to offer – just make sure to go in after sampling the food of Harambe Market so you don’t spoil your appetite!

5 – Theming – Harambe Market is remarkably well-themed. The paint on the buildings is distressed and you can read and discover the various flyers and leaflets that are pasted on the walls of the businesses. It adds to authenticity of this colonial-era market. If you spend enough time in the area, you can see and hear the train returning from Rafiki’s Planet Watch. I also like the added touch of the water tower to the entire market experience.

4 – Adult Beverages – all three of the counter-service restaurants offer some wonderful drinks paired with the food that they offer. Delicious craft beers are offered, as well as an assortment of wines from Africa and specialty cocktails. Be sure to check the menus at each counter because each restaurant serves different options.

3 – Wonderful Side Dishes – when thinking about sides to accompany your entrée, you generally think of fruit or french fries, but Harambe Market offers some new takes on sides. Served with the Curry Infused Beef and Pork Sausage, Disney offers a refreshing broccoli, tomato, and onion slaw. It is a great compliment to the entrée itself and is surprisingly refreshing!

2 – Inventive Entrees – Harambe Market offers very interesting choices for entrées. It was a very difficult decision between the beef and pork sausage and the spice-rubbed Karubi ribs. I ultimately decided on the sausage because the breading was seasoned with curry and was a very unique addition! I can’t wait to return to try the ribs! Harambe Market also offers a non-meat option of a grilled vegetable stack, so the entire family can dine in Harambe Market at one of the dining options.

1 – What It Holds for the Future – the addition of Harambe Market also portends what is in store for Animal Kingdom. Along with the addition of the Rivers of Light nighttime show and the World of Pandora, it appears that Disney is making the commitment to make Animal Kingdom a full-day park along with the myriad options it deserves. The various restaurants in Harambe Market could use one additional option per restaurant to have a truly diverse overall menu.
