The Contemporary Resort Dining Guide

Chef Mickey's

Located mere steps from the entrance to the Magic Kingdom, the Contemporary is the other resort that have welcomed guests since the Walt Disney World Resort opened in 1971.  This A-frame hotel offers stunning views of Bay Lake, the Seven Seas Lagoon, as well as into the Magic Kingdom itself!  Most guests will have taken a look inside on their way to the Magic Kingdom as the Monorail travels through the inside of the building!  During this short time inside the resort, guests will have seen many of the dining options available to guests!  Here are your options when dining at the Contemporary!

1. Contempo Café

The quick service dining option at the Contemporary, the Contempo Café offers guests delicious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  In addition to traditional breakfast offerings, guests can also have a grilled breakfast sandwich or a scrambled hash bowl, as well as a selection of croissants and danishes.  At lunch and dinner, guests can get their fill of cheddar and bacon macaroni and cheese, a diverse array of sandwiches – an Italian beef sub, a delectable Cuban sandwich, as well as hot turkey sandwiches or a burger.  Guests will also find customizable rice bowls with various protein options – grilled salmon or chicken!  Guests can also dine on salads and delicious flatbreads! 

2. The Wave….of American Flavors

A unique and relatively unknown table service offering, the Wave is located on the first floor of the Contemporary next to the front desk.  Serving meals all day, guests will be able to relax in soothing atmosphere and enjoy amazing selections.  At breakfast, guests can choose to enjoy a buffet with classic favorites or opt to order off the menu such delicacies as glazed donut French toast or an egg white frittata.  Lunch offers a variety of selections — burger, fish, a traditional Reuben, chicken sandwich, protein bowl, pasta, or a noodle bowl.  Regardless of your appetite, you’ll be able to find a great selection here.  Dinner entrees are completely different — beef tenderloin, braised beef short rib, chili-ribbed chicken, and pork tenderloin.  Guests needing something else can find it on the appetizer menu or on the samplings on the dessert menu! 

3. Chef Mickey’s

One of the most popular restaurants on property calls the Contemporary home.  Chef Mickey’s is a character dining experience that serves guests from early morning until the night.  The buffet features traditional options that will appeal to most everyone’s palette. The real draw of a meal at Chef Mickey’s however is being visited by classic Disney characters during their meal. Guests will have the opportunity to meet Mickey, Goofy, Minnie, Donald, and Pluto.  Guests are forewarned that meals here are expensive and tables difficult to come by, so be sure to make an advanced dining reservation as close to their 180 day window as possible!
