Of all the things LEGO hasn’t done, the absence of a The Muppet Christmas Carol set feels like a miss. A weird one. The 1992 film isn’t just a holiday favorite—it’s the version of A Christmas Carol for an entire generation. It’s got charm, atmosphere, original songs, and a cast that includes the Michael Caine. The fact that LEGO still hasn’t touched it is baffling.
But we’re not starting from zero here. LEGO did release Muppet minifigures in 2022—twelve of them, covering the basics: Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Animal, Rowlf, and so on. They were well-made, sold out fast, and immediately sparked speculation about a larger set. Nothing came. No Electric Mayhem tour bus, no Muppet Theater, no Christmas Carol.
But why hasn’t this happened yet?

If there’s any Muppet project tailor-made for a LEGO set, it’s The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992). Imagine it: Scrooge’s house with flickering lights, a cobblestone street corner with snow-speckled windows, the Cratchit household with a crackling fireplace. Statler and Waldorf as Marley and Marley dangling from a LEGO chain. And not to mention the actual Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future themselves. The set practically builds itself.
LEGO has already gone deep on other Christmas sets—Santa’s Visit, Winter Village, various Advent calendars—so seasonal demand isn’t the issue. And The Muppet Christmas Carol is as safe a pick as it gets. The nostalgia is built in. The pieces already exist. The minifigures are ready to go. Of course, there are some fan-made sets, as well as plenty of concept art (which you can check out on a Reddit thread), but it’s just not the same.

Every December, the movie trends all over again, merchandise resurfaces, and fans rewatch it like it’s a holiday obligation. And every December, the same question pops up online: why isn’t there a LEGO set for this hugely popular film yet? It’s been 33 years.
It doesn’t need to be a giant, 2,000-piece display model. A mid-sized set with Scrooge, Kermit Bob Cratchit, Miss Piggy Emily Cratchit, and a few key scenes would be enough to keep us happy. It’s the kind of thing that would sell out instantly. Families would buy it. Collectors would buy two. It’s not even an original idea–it’s just a really overdue one.
With all that said, there is a LEGO Ideas submission that has a few hundred days left.
Where To Watch The Muppet Christmas Carol
The Muppet Christmas Carol is streaming on Disney+.
“The Muppet Christmas Carol sees The Muppets perform the classic Charles Dickens holiday tale, with Kermit the Frog playing Bob Cratchit, the put-upon clerk of stingy Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine),” Disney’s official description reads.
“Gonzo, as Dickens, narrates the story with the help of Rizzo the Rat. The film also features Miss Piggy as Emily Cratchit, Gonzo as the narrator Charles Dickens, Fozzie Bear as Fozziwig, and Robin the Frog as Tiny Tim. Scrooge receives visits from spirits of three Christmases – past, present and future. They show him the error of his self-serving ways, but the miserable old man seems to be past any hope of redemption and happiness.”
The Muppet Christmas Carol stars Kermit the Frog/Bob Cratchit (Steve Whitmire), Miss Piggy/Emily Cratchit (Frank Oz), The Great Gonzo/Charles Dickens/Narrator (Dave Goelz), Fozzie Bear/Fozziewig (Frank Oz), and Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine).
