The casting news arrives as speculation continues over who will ultimately play Batman in The Brave and the Bold. Directed by Andy Muschietti (2023's The Flash), the DCU reboot will introduce an entirely new live-action Bruce Wayne, though no actor has been announced.

For now, however, Warner Bros. has confirmed its next Batman.

Based on the legendary 1990s comic-book storyline, Batman: Knightfall adapts the saga that introduced Bane and delivered one of the most iconic moments in Batman history.

DC's official synopsis reads:

“When the mysterious behemoth known only as Bane frees Batman's entire Rogues' Gallery from Arkham Asylum, the Caped Crusader is pushed to his mental and physical breaking point.”

Directed by Jeff Wamester and written by Jeremy Adams, the animated feature is the first chapter in a planned three-part adaptation spanning Knightfall, Knightquest, and KnightsEnd.

With an R rating already confirmed and one of Batman's darkest stories heading to the screen, Knightfall looks set to offer fans a very different take on Gotham's protector while the franchise's live-action future continues to take shape.

Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall releases later this year.
