A popular EPCOT attraction is once again experiencing technical difficulties, just weeks after Walt Disney World Resort fixed a previous issue. The Seas With Nemo & Friends, an iconic dark ride in the World Nature neighborhood, is facing a new malfunction, leaving guests confused as the attraction struggles to operate correctly.
Ongoing Issues in The Seas With Nemo & Friends at EPCOT
The Seas Pavilion at EPCOT has seen several changes over the past year, including the removal of dolphins and adjustments to its manatee care program. However, this latest issue affects The Seas With Nemo & Friends attraction itself, which features beloved characters from Pixar’s Finding Nemo (2003).
In January 2024, Disney quietly repaired the Chum animatronic, a shark figure inside the attraction that had been broken for months. But now, just weeks after that fix, new problems have emerged. On Tuesday, WDWNT reported that two key figures in the ride—an anglerfish and Marlin (Nemo’s dad)—were no longer functioning properly.
Animatronics Stop Moving, Leaving Guests Confused
The scene in question is set in a dark underwater environment, where Marlin and an anglerfish are positioned on long mechanical arms that create the illusion of movement. Typically, the anglerfish lunges at Marlin, chasing him around the scene. However, according to the most recent report, both figures have stopped moving entirely.
The audio and background music continue to play, but the once-dynamic scene is now motionless. Dory, who appears on a screen nearby, still moves as usual.
Will EPCOT Fix The Seas Again?
At this time, Walt Disney World Resort has not announced any repair timeline for the broken fish figures. Given that Disney took months to address the Chum issue, it’s unclear if or when the ride’s movement effects will be restored.
Despite the ongoing technical issues, The Seas With Nemo & Friends remains open to EPCOT guests. Beyond the non-functional figures, no major operational changes have been announced. Follow Disney Fanatic for updates on this and other repairs at Walt Disney World Resort.
