Things We Can’t Wait to Experience Again Once Disney World Opens

News just came down this week that the closures of Disney World will extend indefinitely.  While we are saddened to know that our next trip to Disney World will have to wait until this pandemic subsides, we know Disney is making this decision based on the health and safety of the guests, as well as their Cast Members.  We don’t know when our next trip will be, but while staying safe, we have given thought to the things we can’t wait to experience again as soon as the parks re-open to the magic.  Here is our list of what we are looking forward to!

Fresh Popped Popcorn at the Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom is the busiest theme park in the world, so it is always a special occasion to walk around the park and taking in the sights, enjoying the attractions, and appreciating the atmosphere.  What highlights and deepens the experience is enjoying an order of freshly popped popcorn as you stroll down Main Street, U.S.A or meander the walkways in Liberty Square and Frontierland.  Maybe your favorite snack is a little bit more refreshing — either a Dole Whip from Aloha Isle or a Citrus Swirl from the Sunshine Tree Terrace.

The Smell of Disney Water Rides

Scientists have reported that the strongest sense tied to memory is scent.  We miss the smell of the classic Disney water rides like Pirates of the Caribbean or Splash Mountain and we cannot wait to re-experience the fall into the Briar Patch or sail past the naval battle between Captain Jack Sparrow and Barbosa.  Just closing our eyes and taking a deep breath, we can smell that cool water as we float around.

A Relaxing Walk Around World Showcase

Between the Flower and Garden Festival, as well as International Food and Wine Festival and all of the other special events, one of our favorite experiences at Disney World is just strolling around World Showcase and enjoying a refreshing drink or a tasty snack.  This is especially true during the festivals as various outdoor kitchens and kiosks dot the World Showcase Promenade and invite guests to sample new culinary creations and learn more about the culture of the countries.

A True Disney Thrill

Between dropping into an alternate dimension, racing around the Forbidden Mountain, or blasting off on Space Mountain, guests at Disney can find a thrill ride to suit their interests.  We cannot wait to be back in a familiar surrounding and seeking those thrills.  Maybe we snag a FastPass+ for Rock and Roller Coaster?  Wait standby for Space Mountain?  Or hop in the single rider line a few times for Expedition Everest?  We haven’t decided yet, but we know regardless of the choice, we are going to have a great time!
