Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Extends Influence in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland

Spring break is in full swing at Walt Disney World Resort, bringing with it the usual influx of guests eager to experience the magic. On Tuesday, crowds poured into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom Park, making it one of the busiest days for the ride since it removed its Virtual Queue.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland in June 2024, officially replacing the controversial Splash Mountain. Disneyland Resort followed with its version in November. Initially, both attractions used the Virtual Queue system to manage crowds, but Disneyland Park was the first to remove it. Magic Kingdom Park followed suit in February, allowing for standby lines.

While some Splash Mountain fans have pointed to the early, short standby lines as evidence that the retheme wasn’t well-received, Walt Disney World Resort guests seem to be showing renewed interest in the water ride as temperatures rise.

Crowd levels have been steadily increasing at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom this week as families take advantage of their time off during spring break. As expected, this visitor surge led to longer wait times at popular attractions, including Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, where guests waited up to an hour and a half to experience the rethemed ride.

Despite the extensive queue area already in place, Disney cast members were forced to extend the line beneath the Walt Disney World Railroad tracks, past the Critter Co-Op, and across the bridge into the wider Frontierland area. X (formerly known as Twitter) user @laughing_place shared photos showing Disney cast members guiding guests toward the end of the extended line, with a posted wait time of 80 minutes.

It’s shaping up to be a busy day at the #MagicKingdom. The standby line for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure stretches all the way back to the lower bridge in front of the drop!

Those planning to visit Walt Disney World Resort this week should expect longer wait times at other popular rides such as TRON Lightcycle / Run, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and Avatar Flight of Passage. Even if you’re not interested in purchasing Lightning Lanes, you can still optimize your visit with options like Mobile Ordering at Quick Service restaurants and Early Theme Park Entry for Disney Resort hotel guests.
