Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Operations Suspended After Man Violates Ride Safety Feature

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was temporarily shut down after a Disneyland Resort guest violated the rules and stood up on the attraction. The incident halted operations and caused a lengthy disruption to the ride that opened at Disneyland Park in November 2024.

A retheme of the former Splash Mountain, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure invites guests into the world of Princess Tiana from The Princess and the Frog (2009), as they help her prepare for a New Orleans-style celebration. It takes guests on the same ride path as the former Song of the South (1946) themed ride, culminating in a legendary 50-foot drop.

Unfortunately, during a recent ride on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a man stood up in his log, violating the safety rules that require guests to stay seated for the duration of the attraction. On July 20, @mainstreetmagia shared a video of the incident on TikTok:

Thanks to hidden security cameras, Disney cast members noticed the violation almost immediately. A Disneyland Resort employee sternly addressed the man, repeatedly telling him over the ride’s PA system to “sit down.”

The man initially ignored the Disney cast member’s instructions, so Tiana’s Bayou Adventure had to be stopped. The man finally complied and sat back down, but not before briefly attempting to stand up again, all while his friends recorded and laughed. Because they initiated an emergency stop, Disney cast members had to evacuate the remaining riders to reset the system.

Disney Parks fans expressed their frustration in the comments, with many pointing out that the man’s actions posed a danger to everyone on the ride. One user, @princess_courtney, commented, “Not only is this dangerous for the person, it could also unbalance the weight in the log and make it tip over bc no one else is standing.”

“Far too many injuries and fatalities have happened simply because someone stood up during a ride,” @olivia_thelittlemushroom echoed.

Former Disney cast members also weighed in on how the situation should have been handled. One, @jasenplus, shared a story about how a manager used to address similar situations:

“She’d pull the person away from their group and over to the ‘no standing’ sign and point at it and explain that their day in the park is done. Then she’d point to the rest of the group and say, ‘And now since you have to leave their day in the park is probably over too, because you couldn’t follow this simple safety instruction.’ Then she’d hand them to security to be escorted off property. Grown men in tears.”

Many Disney Parks fans expressed concerns about increasingly inappropriate guest behavior.

“I HATE the main character syndrome that plagues so many these days,” @jennifermosserpsu said.

“You can get kicked out for that,” @itsconcertsforme wrote. “Disney dont play.”

At the time of publication, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure had resumed normal operations, but it remains unclear whether any further consequences were imposed on the guests involved. Disneyland Resort hasn’t issued a public statement about the incident.
