On July 28, Disney released its newest live-action movie, Haunted Mansion. The film starred Rosario Dawson as Gabbie, a single mom who moves into an abandoned New Orleans mansion with her Travis (Chase Dillon). The hope was to turn it into a bed and breakfast, but the ghosts who inhabit the mansion quickly put the kibosh on that idea.

In order to help her and her son live a peaceful life, Gabbie enlists the help of several locals. First, there’s “Father” Kent (Owen Wilson), who then brings in former paranormal investigator, Ben Matthias (LaKeith Stanfield). The two men then enlist the help of Bruce Davis, a history professor who knows the mansion. Finally, you can’t speak to ghosts without someone who can summon them, and that’s where the psychic Harriet (Tiffany Haddish) comes in.

Unfortunately, Haunted Mansion did not perform as well in theaters as Disney had hoped, making only $117 million at the box office. That was despite the fact that audiences really liked what they saw — Haunted Mansion has an 84% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
It’s been months since Haunted Mansion came out, but now one of its stars is making headlines — and not for a great reason.

Early in the morning on Black Friday — November 24 — Beverly Hills police officers responded to a call about a car stopped in the middle of Beverly Drive. When police responded to the call, they reportedly found comedian Tiffany Haddish asleep at the wheel.
The police woke Haddish up — in the still-running car — and arrested her. She was taken to the Beverly Hills Police Department, booked, and released later that day.
At first, it didn’t seem that Haddish was too concerned about the legal trouble she found herself in. Later that same day, she performed a standup routine at the famous Laugh Factory in West Hollywood. During her routine, she joked about the arrest. An audience member recorded audio of the segment.
Per a report from PEOPLE:
In the recording — taken by an audience member at Friday night’s show — when asked about what happened “last night,” Haddish jokingly replied, “You tell me,” before cracking a joke about the situation.
“I had prayed to God to send me a man with a job, career, preferably in a uniform, and I answered my prayers,” she said, per the recording.
This is actually not the first time that Haddish has been arrested for driving under the influence. In January 2022, the Girls Trip star was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, after also allegedly falling asleep at the wheel. But this time, she fell asleep at the wheel while driving on a local highway. She is due in court to address that arrest on December 4.
It is also not the first time that Haddish has made light of her arrests. Not long after her arrest in Georgia, the actress and comedian went on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and joked about dreaming of finding a man in uniform.
I can say this, Jimmy… I’ve been praying to God to send me a new man. A good man. And God went ahead and sent me four… in uniform. And now I got a really great lawyer, and we’re going to work it out. I’ve got to get my asking of things to God a little better!”
A few days after her arrest, the Night School star told Entertainment Tonight about her most recent DUI arrest. She said that her Tesla had parked itself on the side of the Los Angeles street, but was blocking part of the road. She also said that she was going to get some help, “I’m going to get some help, so I can learn balance and boundaries.”
