Tom Holland has once again made it clear who he hopes will eventually inherit the Spider-Man mantle in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While promoting Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026), the actor revealed that bringing Miles Morales into the MCU remains one of his biggest ambitions for the franchise's future.

Holland first appeared as Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War (2016), later reprising the role in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
Brand New Day marks his seventh appearance overall and his fourth solo outing as Spidey.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and Justin Kuritzkes, the new film follows Peter after the events of No Way Home, in which Doctor Strange's spell erased him from the memories of everyone he knew, including his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and best friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon). Tom Holland Discusses the MCU's Next Spider-Man
Despite previously stating that “I'll do it for as long as they'll have me,” Holland has previously spoken about eventually handing over the spotlight to another Spider-Man.
Now, in an interview with Hobby Consolas (via IGN), Holland discussed what a post-Brand New Day future could look like for the franchise and specifically addressed the possibility of bringing the character Miles Morales into live action. Here's what he said:
“I think at this point in time, we're being really open-minded about what the future looks like. I know that I have aspirations to bring Miles Morales into the universe, however that works out. You know, we've got a lot of work to do to bring that to life.”
Created in 2011 by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Sara Pichelli, with editorial support from then editor-in-chief Axel Alonso, Miles Morales first appeared in Ultimate Comics: Fallout #4 that same year.

Although he has yet to debut in the MCU, references to him already exist. Donald Glover's Aaron Davis, Miles' uncle, mentioned having a nephew in Homecoming, while Jamie Foxx's villain Max Dillon/Electro joked in No Way Home, “There's got to be a Black Spider-Man somewhere out there.”
Outside the MCU, however, Miles has become one of Marvel's most popular heroes thanks to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), and Insomniac's Spider-Man video game series. He will return in next year's Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse (2027).
Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases in theaters on July 31, 2026.
The filmt stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Tramell Tillman as Bill Metzger, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, and Sadie Sink in an undisclosed role.
