Tornado Touches Down Near Disney World Hotel as Guests Receive No Alert

Guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort experienced an unusual weather event after a tornado reportedly touched down near a Disney hotel.

The tornado was reported near Disney's All-Star Sports Resort in Central Florida. Although the funnel apparently reached the ground, it didn't stay there for long.

Reports indicate the tornado lasted approximately 30 seconds before lifting.

No damage has been reported, and there were no reports of guests receiving a weather alert associated with the brief tornado.

A Tornado Develops Near Disney World

Disney's All-Star Sports Resort sits within the sprawling Walt Disney World Resort property and welcomes vacationers throughout the year.

That made reports of a tornado touching down nearby particularly concerning.

Fortunately, this appears to have been an extremely brief weather event. The tornado reportedly remained on the ground for around half a minute before disappearing.

There have been no reports of damage associated with the tornado, including at Disney's All-Star Sports Resort.

Guests also reportedly did not receive a weather alert before or during the brief event. Given how quickly the funnel developed and lifted, however, the entire situation unfolded within seconds.

While the lack of an alert may sound concerning, there is currently no indication that guests suffered injuries or that the tornado caused damage.

Disney World Avoids a More Serious Situation

Central Florida regularly experiences powerful thunderstorms, especially during periods of unsettled weather.

At Walt Disney World, storms can quickly affect operations. Disney may temporarily close outdoor rides, suspend certain transportation options, delay entertainment, or restrict access to pools when lightning and other dangerous conditions approach.

A tornado presents a different concern entirely.

In this case, however, Walt Disney World appears to have avoided the kind of damage that can accompany a tornado.

The reported funnel touched down for only about 30 seconds near Disney's All-Star Sports Resort before lifting, and no damage has been reported.

Guests throughout Walt Disney World should continue monitoring weather conditions as storms develop across Central Florida. Weather patterns around Orlando can change quickly, even when conditions appeared relatively calm earlier in the day.

For now, the reported tornado near Disney's All-Star Sports Resort appears to have ended almost as quickly as it started.

Despite touching down near a Disney World hotel, the brief tornado lifted without any reported damage.
