A rare slip in The Walt Disney Company’s famously strict “character integrity” rules has left fans buzzing after two Goofys were spotted within feet of each other at Disneyland Paris Resort. A video capturing the mishap amassed attention on social media.
A Disney Character Mishap
The incident was shared by Instagram user @aristokats_life, whose video shows Goofy appearing in two places at once—something the Disney parks work tirelessly to avoid. The footage reveals Goofy’s hat and shoes visible above and below a backstage gate while another Goofy greets guests just a short distance away.

“Character integrity” is a cornerstone of Disney’s entertainment philosophy. Performers portraying iconic characters like Mickey Mouse and Peter Pan are trained to ensure guests never see more than one version of a character at any time. Mistakes like this are exceedingly rare, making the video all the more surprising.
Goofy’s Costume Mishap
While it’s common for Disney character performers to swap out during meet-and-greets for breaks, these transitions are carefully timed and planned to avoid overlap. Disney cast members are trained to provide creative explanations to maintain the illusion, such as, “Goofy needs to check on Max, and he’ll be right back!”
However, this mishap made it impossible for Disney cast members to keep the story intact, as one Goofy was clearly visible while the other waited backstage.
Mixed Reactions
The video quickly garnered reactions from Disney Parks fans, with some upset that it had been shared.
“Poor taste to post this,” said @eric.mouse, criticizing the decision to share the video.
Others took the incident in stride, using humor to explain the situation.
“He teleported,” wrote @zzkoty, while @pixiedustdini joked, “I bet Donald just stole Goofy’s hat.”
