A Massachusetts family’s trip to Walt Disney World took an unexpected detour after a shocking incident on the road left one member injured before they even arrived.

For countless visitors, a trip to Walt Disney World is filled with excitement and anticipation. However, for Chynna Higgins and her family, their journey to the Florida resort on February 18, 2025, took an alarming turn. While traveling along the Florida Turnpike with her partner and children, Higgins was suddenly struck in the head by an airborne object.
“Next thing I know, I hear a bang and it doesn’t register that I’ve been like hit,” Higgins explained via Click Orlando. “And the pain kicks in, and I grab my kids’ father, and I hold onto him. I was like, ‘I think I just got hit by a rock.’”
After pulling over and calling 911, the full extent of the incident became evident. Higgins’ windshield had a hole in it, she was bleeding, and a Milwaukee battery was sitting in her lap. The unexpected debris had caused chaos in the car, as Higgins worked to calm her frightened children while emergency services arrived.

According to Click Orlando, she required 11 stitches. Despite a visit to the hospital and an expensive towing fee, Higgins and her family decided to continue with their Disney plans.
Though medical professionals advised her not to go to any attractions to prevent further injury, Higgins still made it to the park. She later admitted she may have startled some Disney guests with her visible facial wounds.
“I definitely scared some kids at Disney,” Higgins said, reflecting on the injuries she sustained. The source of the flying battery remains unknown, adding to the bizarre nature of the event.
