Universal Orlando Has a Message for All Guests: Early Entry Is Changing Soon

It’s still dark out, yet the buzz outside Universal Orlando’s gates is electric. Guests shuffle in early, clutching park maps and coffee cups, ready to squeeze every second out of the day. Those who know about Early Park Admission (EPA) understand its value — that golden hour before regular opening when the parks feel empty, rides move fast, and the magic feels personal.

But if you’re heading to Universal this November, that morning advantage is about to look a little different. A major refurbishment will temporarily alter which attractions open early, and that could seriously change your park strategy. Don’t worry, though — we’ve broken down everything you need to know, including when it happens, which rides are affected, and how to adjust your plans like a Universal pro.

Early Park Admission is one of Universal’s biggest perks for on-site hotel guests and Premier Annual Passholders, while Preferred Passholders can join in on select days. It allows up to an hour of access before everyone else — and during peak seasons, that head start makes a world of difference.

Universal Orlando Announces Updated Early Park Admission Schedule

Universal has officially confirmed that Early Park Admission will continue daily through October 31st for Islands of Adventure, giving guests early access to several fan-favorite attractions:

  • Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey

  • Flight of the Hippogriff

  • Jurassic World VelociCoaster

  • Ollivanders

  • Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure

However, beginning November 10th through November 20th, the lineup will shift due to the temporary refurbishment of Forbidden Journey. During that 10-day window, early access will include:

  • Flight of the Hippogriff

  • Jurassic World VelociCoaster

  • Ollivanders

  • Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure

That means guests hoping to visit Hogwarts Castle early in the morning will need to wait until the refurbishment wraps up. This change is short-term — but it will likely impact how guests move through the park in the mornings, especially around Hogsmeade and Jurassic Park.

How to Make the Most of Early Park Admission

Veteran visitors know that Early Park Admission is all about efficiency — every decision counts. Here are some essential strategies to make sure you get the most from that early hour:

  1. Get there early — at least 45 minutes before early entry begins. Crowds form even for Early Park Admission.

  2. Tackle Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure first. It has one of the highest wait times in the park.

  3. Use the Universal Orlando app to check wait times and mobile order food.

  4. Save shops and photos for after regular park opening. Focus on attractions first.

  5. Stay flexible. If Hagrid’s or VelociCoaster experiences downtime, pivot quickly to another open attraction.

With just a bit of planning, you can easily conquer two or three headliners before most guests even step inside the gates.

Why Fans Should Care About This Update

This schedule change might not sound huge, but it will absolutely shift the flow of morning crowds at Islands of Adventure. With Forbidden Journey unavailable, expect more guests to pour into Hagrid’s and VelociCoaster, meaning lines will grow earlier than usual.

Still, for true fans, Early Park Admission isn’t just about efficiency — it’s about atmosphere. Walking through a near-empty park as the music swells and the mist rises over Hogsmeade or Jurassic Park is an experience that never gets old. Even with the November adjustments, Universal’s early entry remains one of the most rewarding perks the resort offers — and the smartest way to start your day right.

Since first stepping inside the Magic Kingdom at nine years old, I knew I was destined to be a theme Park enthusiast. Although I consider myself a theme Park junkie, I still have much to learn and discover about Disney. Universal Orlando Resort has my heart; being an Annual Passholder means visiting my favorite places on Earth when possible! When I’m not writing about Disney, Universal, or entertainment news, you’ll find me cruising on my motorcycle, hiking throughout my local metro parks, or spending quality time with my girlfriend, family, or friends.
