One of the most popular myths among Disney fans is that Walt Disney is cryogenically frozen — with some going so far as to say it’s just his head that is frozen. The long-standing legend began shortly after Walt’s death, when a tabloid reporter claimed that he snuck into the hospital where Walt passed away and saw Mr. Disney frozen in a “cryogenic metal cylinder.” The myth gained a life of its own, with the prominent story being that he had himself frozen until a cure could be found for the aggressive cancer that ended his life.
Even though many know that the myth is just that, one company is baffling the internet with its latest video involving Walt’s frozen body.
In the video, the news media — and the world — is going crazy because Walt Disney’s body is about to be unfrozen. Reporters talk to fans around the world as cameras focus on Walt’s body. The countdown begins and the world waits. As the clock runs out, a young girl says what she would ask Walt Disney (she asks it in another language). The clock hits zero, “Walt” wakes up, and says “his innovation.”

The video then goes through a montage of some of Disney’s greatest innovations and creations, including Mickey Mouse and MagicBands. Then, “Bob Iger” wakes up from his dream, looking like he’s had an epiphany. He sits up in bed — wearing a suit — and makes a phone call. The video ends with a message.
Tomorrow’s reality is today’s someone’s dream.

The video was created by a company called CodigoDelSur. According to the company’s LinkedIn page, they are a software company located in Montevideo, Uruguay, also called “The Silicon Valley of South America.” The company specializes in software, mobile, and app development. They also say that they specialize in chatbots, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality.
Fans Don’t Know What to Think
As the video began making the rounds on social media, Disney fans were left without words. Not because they were blown away by the video, but because they didn’t know what the heck they just watched.

Others were just left in shock at the production value of the video, especially since there’s no guarantee it will actually bring the company business.

The video was released in late August, as Bob Iger is struggling to maintain the support of Disney fans. Iger was incredibly popular during his initial time as CEO, from 2005 until 2020. However, since his return in 2022, he has not had an easy go of it. Fans have taken him to task for laying off thousands of employees and making out-of-touch comments about the WGA and SAG strikes (which are still going strong). They are also holding him responsible for Disney’s continuing struggles at the box office.
Iger is set to remain CEO through 2026, as his contract was recently extended. It is then that someone will take over as Disney CEO. Iger has remained very quiet on the short list of CEO candidates he has.
