Disney’s moderate resorts cater to an array of locations, themes, and guest preferences all while staying within the pricing parameters of a moderate resort.  Nevertheless, how do you know which moderate resort is right for your family’s vacation?  We have compiled a list of the top questions to ask yourself while deliberating Walt Disney World resort decisions.

1. Will You Be Visiting All the Parks?

Depending on your family preferences, kid’s interests and length of your vacation you may or may not be choosing to visit each Disney park on the property. In the case that you visit all the parks at least once during your stay, this factor is not as important.  However, for those planning to enjoy one or two parks during their stay, choosing a moderate resort closer to your park of choice is a good deciding factor.

2. How Often Will You Visit Disney Springs?

Disney Springs

Will you be visiting Disney Springs often during your vacation?  This question is now even more relevant than it was before considering all the great new restaurants available at enjoy at Disney Springs.  You may find yourself visiting Disney Spring more times during your vacation now to run to dining reservations.  If this is the case, you may consider staying in a resort near Disney Springs.

3. Is There a Preferred Resort Theming Fit for Your Family?

Port Orleans

All Disney resort theming is incredible so rest assured you will be wowed regardless of the moderate resort your family chooses to stay in. Take the time to do your research on the Disney website and fan blogs to understand what theming quirks at resorts will really hook your family.  If you have a Princess Tiana fan in your group staying at Port Orleans French Quarter will be an obvious choice as would Caribbean Beach Resort for Pirates of the Caribbean loving kids.

Speaking of waterslides, Disney’s moderate resorts have some amazing ones.  In fact, pools are generally a high point of Disney hotels in general. Take a look at photos of the pools, pool bars, splash pads, poolside lounging areas and waterslides at each of the moderate resorts before making a resort decision. There are some pretty incredible pool options up for grabs!

6. Do You Have Transportation Preferences?

Skyliner

If you have specific transportation preferences, like the ability to take a water taxi to Disney Springs (Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter) or boat access to The Magic Kingdom (The Cabins at Fort Wilderness) you should look into transportation options available at moderate Disney resorts.  All moderate resorts have bus access to each Disney park, water parks and Disney Springs.  Additionally, Disney’s new Skyliner system is available to guests of Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.  This exciting new mode of transportation connects guests to Hollywood Studios and Epcot.

7. Are Resorts Specific Activities on Your Vacation Wish List?

Port Orleans

Did you know you can have new experiences outside the parks at Walt Disney World?  Horseback riding, fishing excursions and carriage rides are just a few of the resort activities offered at moderate resorts.  If you are looking for little extras in your resort, do your research and choose a moderate resort that will offer your family extra fun.

8. Do You Have Specific Dining Preferences?

All moderate resorts have at least one table service restaurant located inside for guests to enjoy.   Quick service options located in moderate resorts tend to be a huge hit with guests.  The Sassagoula Floatworks Factory at Port Orleans French Quarter is my all-time favorite resort quick service restaurant.  If you prefer a specific breakfast menu or want to ensure the quick service dining availability schedule fits your park day plan check on menus and hours online before you book.

9. How Many People will be Staying In Your Hotel Room?

This basic, yet important point to consider may be the deciding factor as to which moderate resort to choose.  If you need to accommodate five guests in one hotel room you will need to narrow your search form the start.  No need to worry; there are plenty of moderately priced resort options that can lodge five guests together.

10. Which Resort Appeals Most to the Entire Family?
