The Wild Africa Trek is a bucket list item for many Guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, and especially fans of my personal favorite park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This in depth backstage experience lasts for three hours and takes Guests behind the scenes of Kilimanjaro Safaris so they can get a closer look at the animals while learning a lot and having some adventures of their own.

During the trek, Guests will cross a rope bridge hanging high above the crocodiles, and see animals closer up from a private open air safari vehicles. While out on the savanna, Guests can expect to see giraffes, rhinos, hippos and more. The experience also includes a friendly and knowledgeable guide who shares information about the animals and their habitats as well as the ways these animals are cared for at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Guests will come away from the experience with enhanced knowledge not only about Disney’s Animal Kingdom park, but for the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund and other sustainability efforts around the Walt Disney World Resort, and ways they can help with conservation initiatives to support animals from home.

The Wild Africa Trek will start back up beginning February 6, 2022, and bookings are available now through disneyworld.com. The Wild Africa Trek is easily one of the most popular backstage tours at the Walt Disney World Resort, so if you are hoping to get out on an earlier excursion when it reopens, we recommend booking asap. It could also make a wonderful holiday gift if you have friends or family going to Animal Kingdom next year!
