This makeshift fort, which consisted of numerous backpacks spread over a significant walkway, raised concerns about blocking access and adherence to park etiquette. Social media quickly caught fire, with reactions ranging from amusement to outrage as users discussed the implications of such behavior.
Backpack Fort Construction Details
The guest's construction of the backpack fort was a sight to behold. It was designed to claim a considerable space for watching Luminous: The Symphony of Us, causing many to question the appropriateness of this method.

While traditional practices among Disney guests involve gathering early and maintaining shared spaces, many saw this setup as an extreme overreach, diverging significantly from accepted norms of claiming spots at the park. Typical etiquette encourages guests to prepare for shows by sitting together without monopolizing a large area, a practice that promotes fairness and consideration among all visitors.
Impact on Fellow Guests at EPCOT
The backpack fort's placement caused notable inconvenience for fellow guests navigating the bustling atmosphere of EPCOT. Many found themselves frustrated as they attempted to traverse the already crowded area, thwarted by the barriers created by the fort.

A shared sense of exasperation emerged among visitors, who voiced their displeasure through social media, highlighting a collective sentiment that the backpack barricade was disrespectful and detrimental to the overall experience of attending Luminous: The Symphony of Us. This sparked conversations surrounding acceptable behaviors in parks and the importance of upholding basic etiquette among Disney World guests.
Calls for Change and Future Actions
Following the ruckus caused by the backpack fort incident, many Disney guests have expressed a desire for clearer guidelines regarding park etiquette. They have called for potential interventions from Disney cast members to prevent similar obstructions in the future.

Advocates argue that formal regulations may help maintain the spirit of respect that Disney parks strive to uphold, while others suggest that community accountability might be the better approach. Ultimately, this incident raises broader implications for expectations of visitor behavior at EPCOT and similar venues, reminding everyone of the delicate balance between personal enjoyment and shared space, especially during events like Luminous: The Symphony of Us.

If I had seen this, security would have gotten called. Unattended backpacks are treated as a threat and would have been removed and examined.
Why didn’t a cast member notice this and address it? I agree with the fact that they are unattended backpacks. This was a selfish and down right wrong thing to do
Safety hazard as well as selfish and entitled!
