Weeks After 13-Year-Old Fell 50 Feet, Another Person Jumps off Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Disneyland Resort is dealing with a troubling pattern, as a new video circulating online shows that last month's terrifying incident involving a 13-year-old boy hasn't discouraged other Disney Park guests from attempting to exit mid-ride.

In late June, Tiana's Bayou Adventure closed abruptly after a 13-year-old boy exited his ride vehicle at the top of the attraction's over 50-foot drop and fell the full distance. The incident was captured on video and spread widely online.

Fortunately, the boy sustained only minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital. OSHA investigated the attraction following the fall and cleared it to reopen.

Earlier this week, another guest exited a Tiana's Bayou Adventure ride vehicle — this time on the ascent leading up to the same drop. Instagram user @adventuresbyprince captured the moment on video and shared it with a caption that detailed the full fallout:

The Disneyland version of this ride doesn’t have lap restraints like its counterpart in Florida and riders sit in a single row. We were stuck for over 30 minutes after the party in front exited their ride vehicle! (Security was still searching after we got off but we still saw this family lining up to try to get complimentary Lightning Lanes afterward for the delay they caused)

The footage shows a woman attempting to climb out of the ride vehicle to join a man who was already standing on a platform on the side of the attraction. A Disney cast member monitoring the security cameras noticed the pair and instructed them over the loudspeaker to “Remain where you are.”

The woman complied and sat back down. The man, however, ducked into an emergency exit doorway and disappeared into a backstage area.

The rest of the guests aboard Tiana's Bayou Adventure were stuck on the ride for more than 30 minutes while security searched for the man who had vanished backstage. When the attraction finally evacuated, and everyone made it off, the family responsible for the delay reportedly approached Disney cast members to request complimentary Lightning Lanes — citing the very disruption their own actions had caused.
