On Sunday, March 6, Disneyland Paris Resort’s 30 Anniversary Celebration officially began, and with the start of festivities, fans finally saw Minnie Mouse dressed in her new much-debated pantsuit.

Pictures in her new blue look were posted by Disneyland Paris insider @DLPReport, who said,

“Minnie Fashionista,” in her famous Stella McCartney pantsuit, is now meeting all Guests at Studio Theater:”

The new look was unveiled at the tail end of January 2022. Designer Stella McCartney took Mickey Mouse’s better half out of her classic red polka dot dress and gave her pants, and fans and media outlets immediately erupted in conversation. Some fans praised the new style, but others bashed it–with some of those critics even going so far as to say the ‘fit was modeled after Hillary Clinton. Like, so many topics today, the conversation turned political, and it didn’t help that McCartney said herself, “This new take on her signature polka dots makes Minnie Mouse a symbol of progress for a new generation.” Click below to read our full coverage of this story:

But Minnie Mouse has always been stylish, and this is not the first time she’s worn pants. Most famously, she rocks sharp white slacks in her Captain’s uniform for Disney Cruise Line.

However, in this reporter’s opinion, there seems to have been something lost in translation in the move from the animator’s page to real life. She looks great in royal blue, but the black polka dots don’t really stand out well. The shiny material combined with overall bagginess makes it look like she’s wearing fancy silk pajamas rather than a professional pantsuit. Then again, there could be something else lost in translation from real life to photography.

Minnie’s new look Meet’ n Greet look also comes as Disneyland Paris beats out the Disneyland Resort in California and the Walt Disney World Resort in bringing back normal hugable character meet and greet experiences once again. The only caveat is that all Guests need to provide either a vaccine pass or a health pass in order to enter Parc Disneyland or Walt Disney Studios Park.
