Family Ends Disney World Vacation Early After Homophobic Assault on Child

A Walt Disney World Resort vacation turned into a nightmare for one family after their child was subjected to verbal and physical harassment at Magic Kingdom Park. The distressing experience led them to cut their trip short, forfeiting their remaining park days.

A Family’s Magic Kingdom Trip Takes a Dark Turn

Reddit user u/drabladrub had spent weeks eagerly preparing for their Walt Disney World Resort vacation, seeking advice on attractions, itineraries, and how to make the most of their time at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But after just one day, the social media user’s family left the park heartbroken.

While exploring Magic Kingdom Park, their 10-year-old child was physically pushed by a pair of young adults aggressively making their way through the park.

“My child was then pushed down by a pair of twenty somethings who were just shoving through,” the parent recounted.

Although the child wasn’t injured, the situation quickly escalated. Another group of guests reportedly stopped to mock the child, using a homophobic slur. The parent described the moment the family “pointed and laughed” at their child: “My child just ignored them until a teenager called us ’a big and little f*g.’”

Shocked and upset, the family made the difficult decision to leave Walt Disney World Resort immediately, opting not to use their remaining tickets for EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

“We left and decided not to use our other two park days,” the parent wrote. “My child had been looking forward to this trip but is pretty soured on it now…We have a zero tolerance policy on verbal abuse. The price of a couple days’ tickets is nothing compared to self-worth.”

Disney’s Stance on Guest Behavior

Walt Disney World Resort has strict policies prohibiting guest behavior that negatively impacts others. While Disney cast members are trained to handle disruptive guests, there is no indication that this specific incident was reported to park security.

If a Disney Park guest experiences harassment or inappropriate behavior, they are encouraged to seek assistance from the nearest cast member, who can escalate the situation to security or Guest Relations as needed.
