In a Surprise Move, Disney Confirms New Land Launch for Next Month

Disney's next big theme park expansion may have just gotten an opening date—without an official announcement.

There's a lot going on at Disney's theme parks right now as Disney pours billions into revamping outdated areas and introducing new lands inspired by some of its biggest franchises.

While Disney fans have been focused on upcoming expansions at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort, one of the company’s most overlooked theme parks is quietly undergoing a massive transformation. Now, a major piece of that overhaul seems set to debut in just a few weeks.

Disney's Long-Struggling Theme Park Finally Gets a Makeover

Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris has never quite lived up to the company’s high standards. Opening in 2002, it was widely criticized for its lack of attractions, barebones theming, and an overall identity crisis that left it feeling more like an incomplete backlot than a fully realized Disney park. Compared to its neighbor, Disneyland Park, it simply didn’t have the same level of magic—or crowds.

Over the years, Disney has attempted to improve the park with expansions like Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy and, more recently, Avengers Campus. But those additions never fully resolved one of its biggest shortcomings—the uninspired architecture that fails to deliver a true Disney experience from the moment guests step inside the park.

That’s why Disney is in the process of transforming 90% of the park, shifting from a studio theme to a more immersive, story-driven environment.

As part of this overhaul, the park’s entry land—formerly known as Studio 1—was closed last year to make way for a completely reimagined space. Now, it seems that transformation is nearly complete.

World Premiere May Open This Spring

According to theme park news outlet DLP Report, Disney has quietly updated its internal systems to reflect an opening date for World Premiere, the new entry land replacing Studio 1. Shops and dining locations within the land are now marked as opening on April 26, 2025, hinting that Disney could be preparing to debut the area by that date.

While Disney has yet to make an official announcement, the timeline makes sense. The park is undergoing a phased transformation that will ultimately see it renamed Disney Adventure World, and getting the entrance right is a critical step in that process. With other major updates still in development—including a highly anticipated Frozen-themed land—World Premiere could serve as a preview of what’s to come.

⚠️ World Premiere shops and its restaurant are all marked as open from April 26, suggesting this will be the opening date for the re-imagined venue.

So, what exactly is World Premiere?

Rather than the soundstage aesthetic of Studio 1, the new Disney land will immerse guests in the golden age of Hollywood, celebrating the magic of movie premieres in a setting inspired by historic cinemas. Inside, visitors will find a dining venue called The Hollywood Gardens Restaurant, designed to replicate the feel of an outdoor eatery under a starlit sky.

Beyond the entrance, the land extends into World Premiere Plaza, which will house the park’s theater district. This space, featuring Art Deco-inspired architecture, will complement existing entertainment offerings like TOGETHER: A Pixar Musical Adventure, bringing more cohesion to the park’s layout. At night, the land will be illuminated with bright marquee lights, further enhancing the sense of stepping into a glamorous movie premiere.

Amidst a picturesque setting of trees and a brick-paved plaza under a blue sky, whispers about Disneyland Paris castle damage linger.

Disney has already begun making visible changes to prepare for the launch. This week, crews started removing the old “Walt Disney Studios Park” sign from the exterior of Studio 1, signaling a shift toward the park’s new identity. Whether the April 26 date holds or not, it’s clear that Disney is in the final stretch of completing this major update.

With the park’s transformation still underway, World Premiere could be a crucial first step in changing the narrative around Walt Disney Studios Park. If it delivers, it might finally give the park the strong first impression it has been missing for over two decades.
