Untimely End: Nemo Show Pulled Midway at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

If you were at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on April 9 hoping to catch Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!, you might have experienced an unexpected twist. Partway through the show, things took an odd turn when a cast member was seen running to the sound booth — and just like that, the performance came to a sudden stop.

Performers on stage in colorful costumes enact a scene inspired by an ocean theme. One holds a large fish puppet resembling a clownfish. The background displays vibrant coral and sea life, including a person operating a stingray prop.

One guest shared their confusion online right after it happened, posting:

“Animal kingdom Nemo show cancelled mid performance. Anyone know why the nemo show stopped half way through today, April 9? Saw an employee run to sound booth and then they canceled it.”

What Happened at Disney's Animal Kingdom?

The timing definitely caught people off guard. Up to that point, the show had been going smoothly, with performers bringing the underwater world to life in vibrant fashion. Disney hasn’t released an official explanation yet, but word around the park suggests a technical issue could be to blame.

Considering how complex Disney’s live shows are — with moving puppets, lights, sound effects, and choreography all working together — even a small glitch can bring everything to a halt.

For those who haven’t seen it, Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! is a must-see at Animal Kingdom. Set in the DinoLand U.S.A. area, it’s a Broadway-style show that tells the story of Nemo, Marlin, Dory, and the rest of the gang through incredible puppetry and catchy original songs. What makes it even more fun is that it’s narrated by the Tank Gang, offering a fresh twist on the classic Pixar story. It’s a crowd favorite for good reason!

A Welcomed Return

Thankfully, no one was hurt during the incident, and Disney’s cast members handled the situation smoothly. Guests were safely escorted out of the theater, and the team apologized for the inconvenience. According to the park’s schedule, the show is back up and running today, so it seems like whatever happened was resolved quickly.

It’s worth noting that while Disney’s shows are usually as flawless as they come, occasional technical hiccups do happen — it’s the nature of live entertainment, especially on this scale. The important thing is that safety remains Disney’s top priority, and they clearly took quick action to make sure everyone was okay.

So, if you’re planning a trip to Animal Kingdom soon, don’t worry! Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! is still part of the daily entertainment lineup. For the latest showtimes and any updates, just check the My Disney Experience app before you head over.
