For a while there, Grogu (AKA “Baby Yoda”) was everywhere (in a way, he still is). You couldn’t walk through a Target or scroll your feed without seeing those big beetle eyes, that tiny robe, and the little green hand reaching out to grab the Force—or your wallet.
The Mandalorian’s pint-sized star didn’t just break the internet; he redefined what a breakout franchise character could be. Cute, mysterious, and marketable as hell.
Of course someone else was going to try it. So let’s say it how it is: Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) wants its own Baby Yoda. And, like Star Wars, it’s not exactly being subtle about it.

Dolores, a pint-sized, wide-eyed Aquilops hatchling, waddles, coos, and blinks her way through the carnage of the latest Jurassic World sequel like a living, breathing plush toy.
She’s adopted by the film’s young character Isabella Delgado (Audrina Miranda), who carries her around in a backpack most of the time—and yes, of course the dinosaur's cute little head pokes frequently (she may as well be looking directly at the younger viewers).
But is it working? Well, Dolores is already everywhere. Plushies. LEGO figures. An interactive toy. All of it. Target, Walmart, online—it’s a merchandiser’s dream come true.

But are fans buying it (both literally and figuratively)? Only time will tell.
And what about her purpose in the film? While Dolores is adorable, her presence feels less like a natural addition to the Jurassic franchise and more like a calculated attempt to tap into the “awww” factor that made Grogu a global sensation in The Mandalorian.
The difference? Grogu felt like mystery wrapped in mythology. Dolores feels like a pop-up ad for a Happy Meal toy.
It’s also telling that Dolores has more screen presence than half of Rebirth’s human cast. She’s got the eyes, the screentime, and probably a better IQ score than some of the actual leads. At times, it’s as if the movie forgets it’s about deadly genetic mutant hybrids and instead leans into being a prehistoric pet adventure.

Jurassic World Rebirth Is Performing Well, So Dolores Could Take Off
But is Dolores the next big thing? Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) chomped on $147.3 million domestically and $171 million from 82 international markets in its first weekend, bringing its global box office total to $318 million so far, per Variety.
So, yes, our best guess is that the movie is selling lots of Dolores toys. Still, we doubt the pint-sized youngling will be headlining her own movie alongside Isabella anytime soon.
Grogu, on the other hand, is gearing up for a big-screen return in The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026). But here’s the question: do Star Wars fans still care?
The cultural moment Grogu owned is now being crowded by imitators—even the upcoming Superman (2025) has Krypto the dog, who's currently battling Dolores for shelf-space.

Jurassic World Rebirth is out in theaters now.
The film stars Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Endgame), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Rupert Friend (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Mahershala Ali (The Green Book), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (Dead Boy Detectives), Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs Lopez), Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF), and Ed Skrein (Deadpool).
