In the realm of Disney films, Aladdin holds a special place in many hearts. Since its 1992 release, the animated film has enchanted audiences with its memorable characters, sweeping music, and magical adventures. Yet, as is often the case with cherished classics, the world of film and reboots never stands still.
This time, Aladdin is receiving a reimagining that will undoubtedly leave Disney fans both intrigued and, possibly, unsettled. This version isn’t about grand romantic gestures or magical wish fulfillment. No, this time the magic lamp and its wishes bring something darker and far more sinister.

In an unexpected move, B22 Films is working on a two-part horror film titled Aladdin and Aladdin’s Revenge, which will completely twist the original story. Rather than focusing on Aladdin’s journey to win the heart of Princess Jasmine, the film explores the horror that results when wishes are made without understanding the dangerous consequences.
According to Bloody Disgusting, “This Aladdin is rooted in the ancient tale. It’s the story about wanted things so badly, unaware of the consequences, that these characters just wish for them and from there, things go haywire.”
The film promises to delve deep into the themes of greed, desire, and the uncontrollable forces unleashed when characters are granted their deepest wishes, leading to a world where everything spirals into chaos.

The plot follows a young woman who discovers the infamous magical lamp, granting her the power to make three wishes. However, as is often the case with such tales, the wishes go horribly wrong, leading to terrifying consequences.
The film stars scream queen Devanny Pinn, alongside Rob Zombie veteran Billy Blair, known for his roles in Machete (2010) and Three From Hell (2019). Brett Bentman, the film’s director, worked with Tiffany McDonald to bring this vision to life under the banner of B22 Films.
Filming has already begun in Oklahoma, with a release date slated for 2026, though it remains unclear if both parts of the saga will be released in the same year. Regardless of the details, one thing is certain: this Aladdin is a far cry from the family-friendly tale we all know.

This isn’t the first time Disney’s beloved stories have been twisted into something darker. Over the past few years, characters like Steamboat Willie, Winnie-the-Pooh, Bambi, and Peter Pan have all been given horrific reimaginings, and now Aladdin joins their ranks. While Disney’s Aladdin is not in the public domain, the original folk tale is, allowing B22 Films to reinterpret the characters in a chilling new context.
Though the Aladdin we know and love may be off-limits, the ability to freely adapt the public domain story has opened up a creative and unsettling opportunity for filmmakers. As we witness more and more Disney stories take on a darker tone, it will be interesting to see if other classics will follow suit.
What do you think about this twisted version of Aladdin? Do you think Disney characters should be reimagined in this horror style, or should they stay in their original, family-friendly forms?
