Did Disneyland Really Host a Private Event for JD Vance? What We Know

Disneyland Resort has found itself at the center of controversy after Vice President JD Vance and his family visited the Southern California theme parks, sparking protests and questions about the treatment he received from Disney. While many guests were upset by his presence, accusing Disney of accommodating a controversial political figure, rumors began to swirl that a private event was held in Fantasyland for Vance’s family. But did Disneyland Park really roll out the red carpet for the Vice President?

JD Vance and his family were spotted at Disneyland Park on Friday, and their visit quickly made waves among Disney Parks fans. Vance, who has been vocal about his opposition to immigrant rights and LGBTQIA+ issues, sparked protests outside the parks and heated comments from Disney Parks fans. Some visitors even shouted at the Vice President as he walked through Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, expressing their disapproval of his presence at a place often associated with inclusivity.

Things took an interesting turn when reports surfaced that parts of Disneyland Park had been shut down for a private event on Friday. A video shared by @mi_vida_disney and @disneyscoopguy on X (formerly Twitter) showed the Royal Theatre in Fantasyland being closed off on Friday, with Disney cast members setting up elegant tables and blocking guest access to the area. The Royal Theatre’s closure seemed suspiciously aligned with the Vice President’s visit, sparking further debate among Disney Parks fans.

The timing of the closure and the elaborate setup led many Disney Parks fans to assume that the private event was indeed for Vance and his family. However, Disneyland Resort has not publicly confirmed that the event was related to the Vice President. That uncertainty didn’t stop Disneyland fans from voicing their frustration on social media.

One user, @PapiNCali, wrote:

He’s called Disneyland “woke capital,” yet somehow still wants to stroll down Main Street. Honestly, the company should’ve denied him entry — especially considering how many LGBTQ+ cast members keep Fantasyland running like magic.

@TWALTZ echoed this sentiment:

Insane that they're bending over backwards for this guy. They should do the bare minimum since he deserves zero “royal treatment”.

Despite the backlash, some fans defended Disney, arguing that the company was simply doing its best to maintain a neutral, apolitical stance.

“Regardless of anyone’s political position, the comments for this are off the hook,” @JeffBloss1 argued. “Would they be the same if it was Kamala Harris’ family visiting? Disneyland is simply doing what they do best and the more apolitical they are the better it is for their reputation.”

By Saturday morning, the area had been reset for guests, with the Royal Theatre looking as it always did. @ThemeparkIQ shared a photo of the attraction back to normal after Disneyland Park had closed for the night:

So, did Disneyland Resort really host a private event for JD Vance? The answer is still unclear. While there’s no official confirmation that the Royal Theatre event was exclusively for the Vice President and his family, the timing and setup certainly raised eyebrows.
